South superstar, Vikram shared how he suffered from serious ailments due to undergoing drastic physical transformation for his films, 'Kasi' and 'I'.
Famous South actor, Vikram has, time and again, moulded himself into different characters for his films. Even in his most recent release, Thangalaan, Vikarm has completely changed his physique to fit the character, and the masses are loving his transformation. However, such frequent and drastic bodily changes are not good for the human body and talking about the same Vikram made some revelations.
Vikram's film, Kasi, is a cult classic, and even after years of its release, people have rewatched it numerous times. In the film, Vikram's character is blind and has his eyelids upwards. This affected his eyes, and even after completing the film's shooting, Vikram's eyes could not go back to their original state, and he couldn't see anything more for a few months. Sharing the incident, Vikram said:
"When I did Kasi, I couldn't see for two to three months because I had my eyelids up all the time. I was at the risk of getting a squint eye."
Another blockbuster film of Vikram was his 2015 release, I. In there, his character was injected with a virus which drastically changed his physical appearance. To essay the role with perfection, Vikram lost more than 30 kgs at once, which put him at risk of organ failure. Vikram shared:
"Then when I did 'I', I did drastic changes. My weight went down to 52 kg at that time from 86 kg. I wanted to get down to 50 kg, but my doctor said, 'Go easy, let's not get excited about this because I can see perimeters changing a bit, and if the main organ fails, then it may be a problem; we don't know how to revive you.' Then I stopped."
Vikram has repeatedly proven his dedication to the craft and talking about the same, he revealed that acting is his passion. He wanted to do something out of the ordinary, which is why he takes up roles that challenge him. In his words:
"It's my passion for acting and cinema. I want to do something out of the ordinary. I don't drink and smoke, but life is my poison. I get a high when I perform."
Thangalaan is based on true events that occurred during the British era. It is a compelling narrative that delves into the struggles faced by indigenous tribes due to mining activities. The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy, Pasupathy, and Hollywood actor Daniel Caltagirone. Released on August 15, the film received mixed reviews from critics and achieved moderate success at the box office.
