Former Indian wrestler turned politician, Vinesh Phogat announced her pregnancy with her husband, Somvir Rathee, after seven years of marital bliss.
Vinesh Phogat is a former wrestler, who is now working as a politician. She is currently a member of the Legislative Assembly in Haryana. Vinesh announced her retirement from wrestling in 2024 after the Paris Olympics 2024. Well, Vinesh is gearing up in her personal life as she is all set to embrace the most beautiful phase of her life: motherhood. It was in 2018 when Vinesh got married to Somvir Rathee, and it was on March 6, 2025, when the couple announced their pregnancy.
It was a while ago, when taking to their IG handle, Somvir Rathee and Vinesh Phogat announced the greatest news of their lives. In a collaborative post, they dropped one of their cutesy selfies. In the photo, Vinesh was seen decked up in a sky-blue toned hoodie, while Somvir wore a blue-toned jacket. In the photo, a cutesy caption was attached, wherein it was written that their love story now continues with a new chapter. The caption was completed with a tiny foot and a red heart emoticons. Well, it means the couple is expecting. As soon as Vinesh and Somvir announced the news, the comment section got filled with congratulatory messages.
Vinesh Phogat and Somvir Rathee's love story is nothing short of a Bollywood movie. Over the years, the couple has backed each other through happiness and sorrow. Vinesh and Somvir met each other back in 2011. Well, initially, they would interact only about something related to work. But as destiny had other plans, the duo started developing something deeper and meaningful.
They became each other's friends first, and they started dating. It was in 2018 when Vinesh and Somvir got engaged at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Reportedly, back then, Phogat was returning after winning a match, and Somvir planned a surprise for her. No sooner did she land at the airport, he reportedly hugged her and slipped a ring on her finger, thereby sealing the deal.
After their families' approvals, and engagement, Vinesh and Somvir got married at a low-key wedding soiree back in 2018. The couple's wedding took place in Charki Dadri, in Haryana. As per a report by Amar Ujala, Vinesh and Somvir had requested their respective families to spend only Re. 1 on each of their rituals, and respecting their wishes, the families followed the same. They also reportedly told the guests that spending a huge amount won't be necessary for their wedding. Well, another adorable fact of the duo's wedding was that they took eight pheras, and the last one was dedicated to "Beti bachao, beti padhao, beti khilao."
