Vinod Kambli issued first statement from the hospital bed wherein he thanked the doctors for saving his life.
Former Indian cricketer, Vinod Kambli has been admitted in Thane's Akruti hospital after his health condition deteriorated over the weekend. A fan admitted him after his health worsened, and after running a few tests, the doctors diagnosed him with clots in his brain. A few months ago, a video of Vinod Kambli struggling to walk went viral and it left his fans in shock, and they all were wondering what happened to their favourite sports star.
Vinod Kambli recently had a conversation with PTI, where he thanked the head doctor for saving his life. He revealed that it was only because of the doctor that he is alive, and he will forever be grateful to him. He also thanked the fan who admitted him to the hospital and regarded him as God. Vinod further added:
"I am alive because of the doctors here. All I would say is that I will do whatever sir (referring to the doctor) asks me to. People will see the inspiration that I'll give them."
Under the continuous care of Akruti Hospital, Vinod Kambli underwent a series of tests, overseen by Dr. Vivek Trivedi. Dr. Trivedi, after analysing the results, identified a clot in Vinod's brain. Vinod's health is under constant observation, and the medical team will be conducting additional tests on December 24, 2024. As per a Hindustan Times report, the hospital in-charge, S Singh, has generously offered Vinod Kambli life-long free treatment.

After a lot of speculation about Vinod Kambli's health over the past few months, the former cricketer shared details of the same in an interview with Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel. He revealed that he was suffering from a severe urine infection, a condition that had significantly impacted his daily life. However, his family stood with him. Vinod Kambli shared that his wife takes care of him and took him to three different hospitals. He said:
"I am better now. My wife takes care of me a lot. She took me to 3 different hospitals and told me 'You have to get fit'. Ajay Jadeja also came to visit me. It felt nice. I was suffering from a urine problem. It was just flowing. My son, Jesus Cristiano, picked me up and brought me back to my feet. My daughter, who is 10 years old, and my wife came to help me. This happened one month ago. My head started spinning; I collapsed and fell down. The doctor told me to get admitted."
A video of Vinod Kambli struggling, sparked a wave of concern on the internet. The former cricketer, visibly weak, was assisted by two men who helped him to a chair. The video, which has touched the hearts of cricket fanatics worldwide, prompted an immediate response from fans who tagged BCCI and Sachin Tendulkar, urging them to assist Kambli. The public concern for the 52-year-old Kambli's health is palpable, underlining the need for support and the importance of everyone's involvement.
