Virat Kohli, who recently became a father for the second time with the arrival of his son, Akaay, talked about taking a paternity break and spending time with his family.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are the most sought-after couples in Tinseltown. For some time now, the duo have been reigning in the headlines after they announced the birth of their secondborn son, Akaay. For the unversed, the couple managed to keep Anushka’s pregnancy under wraps as much as possible, while internet was filled with speculations on the same. However, ditching all media limelight, the couple embraced parenthood for the second time with Akaay in London on February 15, 2024. And for the first time ever, the doting daddy, Virat shared his feelings for his little baby boy.
It has been a while that both Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have been taking a break from professional work, so as to enjoy the much-needed family moments. For the unversed, they are also blessed with a daughter, Vamika, who was born in January 2021. Recently, at the IPL 2024, the doting daddy, Virat Kohli first time spoke about welcoming the new little member into his family. He remarked it to be a special time, not just for his baby boy, but also because he was able to bond with his daughter. Expressing gratitude, he further said:
“Of course, having two kids, things become totally different from a family perspective. So just the ability to be together, the connections that you make with your older child, it’s amazing. I mean, I couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity that I got to spend time with my family.”

Speaking further, Virat Kohli then talked about the blissful moments he spent during his two-month long break. The talented cricketer added that they chose to be in a place where no one would recognise them. Adding how it helped him and his family to spend some normal time together, Virat added:
“We were not in the country. We were at a place where people were not recognising us. Just time together as a family, just to feel normal for two months. For me, for us as a family, it was a surreal experience.”
In the last leg of his interaction, Virat Kohli opened up about how it feels for him to be back on track, returning to his first love of cricket on the grounds. The sportsman revealed how, at first, he wasn’t able to face the crowds cheering for him, since he hadn’t heard such clamour for almost two months now. Moreover, he spoke about preferring a low-key, normal personal space, amid the constant buzz for spotlight. In his words:
“When I came back on the field, I was just telling the guys that I could not look up and face the crowd. This was because I was not used to being called my name for months. Overall, it (parenthood) makes me feel amazing. I love to have a life that people would have on a normal regular basis.”

Jumping back to work, Virat Kohli was spotted on the fields recently, as he played in IPL 2024 for his team, Royal Challengers Bangalore. In one of the latest matches, Virat was seen video-calling back home and chatting away with his wifey, Anushka Sharma and their kids, Vamika and Akaay. In the massively viral glimpses that have surfaced, the doting daddy could be seen getting all cheerful and blowing flying kisses on his phone screen, as he shared a moment with his family.
