In an old interview, Virat Kohli had talked about his secret wedding preparations with Anushka Sharma and how they had managed to pull it off.
Anushka Sharma and Virat had ‘promised each other to be bound in love forever’ on December 11, 2017. After their wedding speculations for a long time, they had tied the knot in the dreamy valleys of Tuscany, Italy, in an intimate ceremony in the presence of their family and friends. The secrecy and simplicity of their wedding had taught everyone that it is a union of two people and their families.
To announce their wedding, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had shared the first-ever picture from their dreamy wedding on their respective IG handles and had penned a meaningful caption that could be read as:
“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”

On Virushka’s (Virat and Anushka fondly called by their fans) fourth wedding anniversary, we got hold of Virat’s interview, where he had talked about his secret wedding preparations with Anushka. In an interaction with footballer, Sunil Chetri during lockdown 2020, Virat had talked about how he and Anushka had managed to pull off their wedding preparations secretly. Virat had also mentioned that had he been in charge of their wedding preparations, the details would have been revealed. He had said:
“We used different names and email id while organising things for our wedding. But, it was not my idea. If it would be in my control, pakka bhaanda foot jaata, from food, decoration and everything. But, shukar hai I was playing a Test match, they managed to keep it a secret. On a serious note, everyone was briefed to keep things discreet. And, to be honest, with all the hard work and coordination, Anushka did it. Everyone who came knew it was all done by her and they loved every moment of us being together.”
In an interview with Vogue, Anushka had revealed the extent the couple had gone to keep their wedding a secret, which included keeping fake names for preparations. Revealing the details, Anushka had shared:
“We even used fake names while talking to the caterer; I think Virat’s was Rahul. We wanted to have a home-style wedding. There were only 42 people there, with all our friends and family present. I wanted it to be about Virat and me marrying each other, and not this big celebrity wedding. The energy at our wedding was blessed.”

In another conversation with Vogue, Virat Kohli had revealed his first meeting with Anushka Sharma and how he was nervous about the same as she has been on sets regularly and thus is a confident actor. In his words:
“The first time I met her I was very nervous and that’s why I cracked a joke because I didn’t know what to do. I thought I was being funny, and I said something which wasn’t probably the right thing to say. My joke became such a weird moment for myself. She was so confident, she is on sets regularly.”
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are proud parents to a baby girl, Vamika Sharma Kohli, whom they had welcomed on January 11, 2021.
