According to the latest reports, Virat Kohli will not feature in the first two matches of the upcoming Test series between India and England for personal reasons.
BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) released an official statement before India's much-awaited Test series against the Three Lions, England. In their big statement, BCCI confirmed that the Indian team's star player, Virat Kohli will not feature in the first two Tests of the 5-match series. The first match of the Test series is going to start on January 25, 2024, and the cricket board will soon announce a replacement for Kohli.
The BCCI stated in their official statement that Virat Kohli has talked straight to the captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma and shared the reasons behind his withdrawal from the upcoming Test series against England.

As per the statement, Virat cited 'personal situations' as the reason behind his decision to step back from the upcoming series, and he informed not only Rohit but also the team management and selectors about the same. BCCI also added that they respect Virat's decision and fully support his decision to skip the Test series against England. The official statement from the BCCI can be read as:
"Virat has spoken to captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention."
