Vivek Oberoi heaped praises on his colleague, Akshay Kumar for endlessly supporting him when he got boycotted in Bollywood.
Vivek Oberoi is one of the most loved actors of Tinseltown, who is best known for swooning people’s hearts since the 2000s, with his charming smile and chocolate-boy image. The actor helmed immense stardom post his debut in the 2002-film, Company, and never looked back on his career for quite a few years. However, it was during a significant portion of time that Vivek got boycotted from the film industry, owing to his open spat with Salman Khan in 2003. And recently, the actor went candid about the only support he found in his difficult time.
In an interview with Mirchi Plus, Vivek Oberoi opened up about his treasured friendship with Akshay Kumar, and narrated a fond anecdote from the same. The Saathiya-actor revealed that at the time when he was depressed over suffering boycott from the film industry, it was none other than Akshay Kumar who gave him the much-needed call of hope and supported by directing lots of work towards him. Recalling their conversation, Vivek Oberoi said:
“Bata kya problem chal rahi hai teri life mein?’ he asked me and then let me vent out, air my problems, pain. He heard me patiently and said, ‘I can help you with a positive mindset. There are several shows going on, and you have blockbuster songs. I am shooting a lot, so I can’t do these shows, but whatever enquiries come to me, I will divert it to you. You do it.”

Continuing with his series of revelations, Vivek Oberoi remarked that although Akshay Kumar didn’t vouch to fight against the lobby over boycotting the former, but nevertheless showcased relentless support towards him. Vivek remarked that Akshay, despite being at the peak of his career, didn’t fret away from diverting towards him countless projects which the latter was supposed to be a part of. In his words:
“Who does that! Because of that I started getting back on stage, fans started cheering and a good positive energy was around me. My frustration was I was doing hit films, was getting awards, but why was I not getting work. Why was I getting boycotted like this? He didn’t say I will stand up with you, fight this war against this lobby. He gave a practical, simple solution, which gave me money, good feeling, love and a lot of fun.”
Well, Vivek Oberoi is a man of only a handful of friends from the film industry, and apart from Akshay Kumar, it is none other than Hrithik Roshan. The duo worked together in the film, Krrish 3 which was a spectacular hit at the box-office. Talking about Hrithik, Vivek remarked the former to be an absolute perfectionist when it comes to work. Moreover, he even credited Hrithik’s immense hard work to everything that he does, from maintaining his fitness at the gym to pulling off action stunts like a pro.

Previously, in an interaction with B4U Entertainment, Vivek Oberoi opened up about his stance of raising his children without any of the privileges most star-kids in the film industry have had. Remarking how he doesn’t want them to feel entitled, the actor revealed:
“We don’t want to bring them (their kids) up with privilege. We don’t want to make the mistake of making our kids entitled. I have seen a lot of my friends while growing up in the industry, growing up entitled. That whole attitude, which I’m so sorry to say, but it’s so prevalent in my friends in Delhi."
