Throwback: The Complete Wedding Story Of Television Sweethearts Sanaya Irani And Mohit Sehgal

They are undoubtedly the cutest couple on Indian television, and rightly so, their wedding was one of the most awaited celebrations for the telly world stars.

Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal, more popularly known as Monaya by their fans, tied the knot in a grand ceremony at Planet Hollywood Hotel, Goa on January 25, 2016.

Know the couple

They need no introduction! Sanaya Irani made her television debut as cadet Sameera Shroff in Sab TV’s show Left Right Left season 2. However, she became a household name with her role as the 'bespectacled Gunjan Bhushan' in Star One’s youth-based show, Miley Jab Hum Tum. She made her Bollywood debut with the Aamir Khan and Kajol starrer film Fanaa (2006), where she played the role of Kajol’s friend. Since then, Sanaya has appeared in many hit tele-series like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? (Star Plus), Chhanchhan (Sony TV), and Rangrasiya (Colors).

Mohit Sehgal made his television debut with the hit youth-based show Miley Jab Hum Tum on Star One as the flirt and basketball player Samrat Shergill. He then went on to play the role of Haider in Zee TV’s Qubool Hai and is currently seen as Somendra in Zee Tv’s Sarojini- Ek Nayi Paheli. He made his Bollywood debut with a supporting role in Delhi Heights (2007).

How it all began

Sanaya and Mohit met on the sets of their show Miley Jab Hum Tum where they played the romantic leads opposite each other. It was here where they fell in love with each other. However, they kept their relationship a secret, and announced it to the world only after the show completed. They dated for seven years, and it has now, culminated into a beautiful wedding.

Roka ceremony

Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal took everyone by surprise with a quiet and hush-hush ceremony at Mohit’s Delhi residence. They had their roka ceremony on December 13, 2015. It was a very private affair with only family members present. (For all the details, see HERE!)

Bachelor parties

Sanaya and Mohit had their rocking bachelor parties on December 29, 2015. It was a completely fun party with their set of friends from the television industry. Daljeet Kaur, Drashti Dhami, Lata Sreedhar, Ridhi Dogra, Neha Swami, Pashmeen Manchanda were there for Sanaya’s bachelorette. Sanaya had worn a badge that said “Can’t Keep calm coz I’m getting married”.

Mohit too had his friends from telly world over like Raqesh Vashishth, Kinshuk Mahajan, Akshay Dogra, Barun Sobti, and Arjun Bijlani. It was a night of drinking and Mohit and his friends were seen sporting T-shirts with the slogan “Last night of freedom”.

Cocktail-cum-sangeet function

Fast forward to January 24, 2016, and it was the day of the rocking cocktail-cum-sangeet function held at Planet Hollywood Hotel in Goa. It was a complete filmy-style party where the bride and the groom along with their guests let their hair down. The guest list included the couple's close friends Drashti Dhami, Roshni Chopra, Daljeet Kaur, Kinshuk Mahajan, Raqesh Vashishth, Ridhi Dogra, Lata Sreedhar, Gautum Hegde, Barun Sobti with wife Pashmeen Manchanda, Arjun Bijlani with wife Neha Swami, and Akshay Dogra with wife Sakshi.

The morning of January 24 saw the guests indulge in some fun on the beach. The function started late in the evening with everyone dancing their hearts out. Sanaya and Mohit looked amazing together, and they were seen enjoying to the fullest.

The grand wedding

The wedding celebrations began in the morning on January 25. It was a beach wedding for this cute couple. The mandap was made in the centre of a beach.

And, the entrance to the venue was also very creatively done up with a signboard leading to it.

Mohit looked dashing in an orange kurta, pyjama with a matching jacket. The final touch was the deep blue pagdi, and the matching pocket square. He made a grand entrance for the wedding on a white ghodi, and Arjun Bijlani’s one-year old son Ayaan was his sarbaala. He was seen enjoying dancing and getting clicked with his friends.

Sanaya was the most beautiful bride ever. Her golden lehenga with delicate embellishments, embroidery and the matching jewellery made her a complete stunner. Her hairdo with a gajra of white flowers, and the red dupatta that she had taken on her head, also added to her bridal beauty.

While they are off the list, we wonder when will these celebs tie the knot.

The functions started with the jaimala ceremony, and Sanaya was seen indulging in some fun. We found it cute!

Normally the pheras take place with the partners walking behind each other. However, there was a twist in the tale here. Sanaya and Mohit took their pheras while walking with each other. It just goes on to say that Mohit and Sanaya consider themselves to be equal partners in this relationship with no one being better than the other.

Well, it seemed as if Mohit couldn't take his eyes off Sanaya, and he kissed her completely unexpectedly which left a sweet smile on her face.

Reception

They had a star-studded reception on the evening of January 25 itself. Sanaya and Mohit looked stunning together. While Mohit rocked a black tuxedo, Sanaya looked pretty in an off-shoulder white gown. Her hair and makeup were perfect, and we loved the bridal glow on her face.

They cut a cake together, sipped on wine, and even danced together! Perfect, isn't it?

Mohit's co-star from his show Sarojini, Shiny Doshi was also seen at the reception, where she had come to wish the newlyweds.

They also happily posed for the shutterbugs. And, their guests also had a great time together. It was a fun-filled day, and an even more fun-filled event.

What we loved most about the entire event were the photographs that Sanaya got clicked with her bridesmaids. Sanaya looks extremely happy with her besties by her side. Have a look at them below.

Honeymoon plans

If reports are to be believed, Sanaya and Mohit will be heading off to the exotic locales of Greece for their honeymoon!
