It’s the wedding season and you have approximately five weddings to attend. This means you have to think about five different gifts to give to the couples. More often than now we make the mistake of presenting unused crockery pieces at our home to the wedding couple which is very wrong. Here are some items that you should and should not gift the wedding couple.
What not to gift
The following are the things you should never gift people:
Casserole sets -This is the most obvious of all gift items and need to be cast aside on principle. You won’t want the same as your wedding gift, then why gift it to others? Right?
Bowl sets - Another item that needs to be avoided at all cost. Any household will have them in plenty. So what will be the use of such items? Moreover, crockery and others give out wrong signals to the bride. She might get a notion that everyone wants her to stay home and cook.
Statues - Statutes can never be considered as a worthy gift. Statues of Gods and Goddesses are a nice way to bless the pair but they too are things that everyone have. They are the most common item for gifts.
Picture frames - Picture frames if not otherwise decorated becomes a major no when it comes to gifts. They are nothing exemplary or out of the box.
What to gift
Ritu Singh, 26, a bride-to-be asserts, “I would love it if I am gifted cash or jewellery than other decorative pieces. They are handy and can be used in the long run.” It is an increasing trend in brides or grooms to receive cash or jewellery as gifts. Says Mohan, “I was visibly disgusted to see six dinner sets of more or less the same makeup as gifts on my wedding. What am I supposed to do with so many of them? My wife got quite offended by it thinking my family and friends want her to be a homemaker contrary to her working self which is not the case.”
