Akshaye Khanna is known to be media shy. However, in two interviews, he had talked about his experience with premature balding and called it heartbreaking.
Bollywood actor, Akshaye Khanna is the son of legendary actor, Vinod Khanna. He had made his acting debut with the film, Himalay Putra. After which, he had taken a two-year sabbatical and had returned with his brilliant performance in Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. The actor had taken a four-year break after 2012, and had returned with the film, Dishoom.
Akshaye Khanna prefers to stay away from media glares and has always kept his personal life under the wraps. However, in a couple of interviews, he had opened up about his appearance and had shared his experience with premature balding. While once he had brushed it off as a part of life, later he had revealed that it had actually affected him a lot.
During his appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan in the rapid fire round, Akshaye Khanna was asked who has the worst hairstyle in the film industry. To which, the actor had taken his name. When Karan had asked him about it, Akshaye had admitted that he wasn’t bothered by his hair and had added:
“Some people have back problems, some people have a number for their eyes, some people need hearing aids… It’s a part of life, that’s how I look at it, some people might think I’m absolutely stupid.. It’s a small thing, for me.”

A decade later, in an interview with the Mid-Day, Akshaye Khanna had once again talked about his premature balding. The actor had revealed that in his young age, he had felt like he might lose one or two years of his career. Talking about the same, he had said:
“It started happening to me at such a young age, for me, it was like a pianist losing his fingers. It really felt like that to me, in those days, till you come to terms with it and it starts bothering you less… You might be a sportsman, and realise you need a knee surgery, so it’s heartbreaking, you might lose a year or two of your career.”
In the same interview, Akshaye Khanna had added that as an actor, your looks matter. Talking about how it had impacted him, Akshaye had said that it was a devastating process for him and he had lost his confidence as a young actor. In his words:
“The way you look, as an actor, is very important… At 19-20, it’s devastating. It’s heartbreaking, and it can mentally… kill you… I think it did affect my self confidence a lot, as a young actor. More than I’d like to admit, actually.”
Akshaye Khanna is happily single, and he has no plans to get married as of now.
