Hema Malini and Dharmendra's unconventional marriage often hits the headlines. Once the actress opened up about not being insecure about Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur.
Veteran actress, Hema Malini got married to actor, Dharmendra, in 1980, while he was already married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur and had four kids, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeeta and Vijeta. Hema and Dharmendra's relationship raised many eyebrows, but the much-in-love couple was unfazed by the criticism and trolling spewed upon them. Hema Malini was so secure about her relationship with the He-Man of Bollywood that once she revealed that she had no ounce of jealousy from the latter's first wife, Prakash Kaur.
During her appearance on an episode of Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, Hema Malini opened up about her relationship with her husband, Dharmendra. When the host, Simi asked the 'Dream Girl' if she ever got jealous of her husband's first wife, Prakash Kaur, the actress immediately denied it. She was heard saying:
“Not at all. That’s why I am the happiest person today.”

Hema Malini further revealed the reason behind not being insecure about Prakash Kaur and shared that she was getting so much love from Dharmendra that she could never demand anything from him. Talking about the value of giving in a relationship, Hema stated that she could not torture Dharmendra for small petty things. She said:
“In love, you are only supposed to give and not demand things. You love the person so much and you have got so much love from the person, so how can you torture your person for these small petty things?”
The actress also revealed that she wanted to keep receiving love from Dharmendra and never wanted anything to come between them. The loving wife further added that she understood his problems, so she adjusted everything according to him for which he loved her more. Mentioning that one has to give respect to love, Hema said:
“That’s the reason I never bothered, irritated or tortured him. I want the love to continue so that is how we still love each other today, nothing can come in between us. I understand his problems, so I adjust everything according to him for which he loves me more. When I give so much, you get so much. So, love is that. You have to give respect to love.”
During the same interaction, Hema Malini also revealed how she fell in love with an already-married man, Dharmendra after many years of resistance. She said that though she liked Dharmendra, she never had the intention of marrying him. However, she continued working with him and even wanted to get married to someone like him. In her words:
“I never bothered in the beginning, not at all. Anyone can say that he’s a very good-looking man, doesn’t mean you have to marry that person. So, I continued working with him, but not at all with any intention that I’m going to marry this person. Somewhere I used to think, if at all I have to marry, I will marry somebody like him. Not him, definitely not.”

Hema also talked about facing a lot of family opposition when she decided to marry Dharmendra, as he was an already married man. But eventually, she couldn’t resist Dharmendra’s love for her and married him. Talking about taking the bold and courageous step of tying the knot with Dharmendra in her life, the actress said:
“No parents will like their daughter to be in this kind of marriage, but it was difficult to decide any other thing for me. I was quite close to him. We were together for so long. So now suddenly to think of someone else I want to marry, I don’t think it was right. So, I called him and said, ‘you have to marry me now.’ He said, ‘yeah, I’ll marry you.’ That’s how it happened."
Dharmendra and Hema Malini became parents to their daughter, Esha Deol, in November 1981 and welcomed their second daughter, Ahana Deol in July 1985.
