Bollywood actress, Rani Mukerji is the daughter of film director-producer, Ram Mukherjee and his wife, Krishna Mukherjee. After making her debut with a Bengali film, Biyer Phool, in 1996, Rani had made her Bollywood debut in the same year in the film, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. Throughout her career close to two-and-a-half decades, Rani has given some spectacular and out of the box performances. However, when it comes to Rani's personal life, the green-eyed beauty likes to keep a low profile. Rani Mukerji had become a part of another predominant filmy family, the Chopras when she had tied the knot with the scion of the YRF banner, Aditya Chopra in 2014. And later, in December 2015, Rani and Aditya had become proud parents of a baby girl, whom they have named Adira.

Rani Mukerji once during her interaction with Simi Garewal on her talk show, India's Most Desirable had elaborated on an incident during her childhood. Rani Mukerji had revealed an interesting anecdote and had shared that she had got exchanged in the hospital after her birth. She had added that it was her mother, Krishna Mukherjee, who had found out that the other baby was not Rani. She had explained:

"It so happened I think when babies are born they have been given something… tags. But apparently, the nurse had taken me to do some change and then got me back and when she got back the baby to my mom, my mom was talking to one of my uncles. So they were chatting and my mother saw the baby and said 'Oh my god! this is not my baby. My daughter has brown eyes. Go and search for my child.'"

Rani Mukerji had further revealed that her mom had found her in another couple's room, who were Punjabis. She had shared that her mom had gone to each and every room and had searched for her. Then, revealing that she had recognised her by the colour of her eyes, Rani had added:

"This is not my baby and the nurse said, ‘No no this is your baby’ and my uncle was like how can it not be your baby, it must be your baby, just look at it carefully all babies look alike when they are born. Mom said no she had light eyes, I'm going to see where she is and she in that state went out in each and every room to see if I'm there and I was finally in one Sardarji's room who already had some six daughters and this was the seventh one."

She had shared that even to this date, her mom jokes about that incident. The actress had also added that there is a Punjabi influence in her family and had said:

"When my mother started searching, there was a Punjabi family who had a daughter for the eighth time. I was there. Even now they joke that 'You are actually a Punjabi. My mistake you ended up in our family'."

Coming back to Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra's love story, it was after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, when Aditya Chopra rose to prominence as an independent director. Rani had once encountered Aditya at the Sampan Hotel in Mumbai, but to his surprise, the then-young starlet did not pursue him, vying for a role. Impressed by this and her performance in films she had done before, Aditya had recommended Rani to Karan Johar for his film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Aditya and Rani never had a love at first sight relationship with one another. However, the two had shared a nice and friendly bond with each other, and it just got stronger with each film she did with YRF. Nothing romantic had blossomed between the couple as Aditya was married back then, but they truly had enjoyed each other's company. When Aditya had separated from his first wife, Payal Khanna, in 2009, Rani was also in a low phase in her personal life, and the two would often find solace in each other and had become each other's forever.

Rani had taken a sabbatical in 2015, after the birth of Adira and had returned to the silver screen in 2018 with the film, Hichki.
