Daughter of Sharmila Tagore and late Mansoor Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan posted a throwback interview from 2011 on her Instagram stories, in which she had revealed her marriage plans.
At least once, during a point of time in your life, even the ones, who had always dreamt of getting married in the Karan Johar or Yash Raj style would have thought of staying single forever. The short-lived relationships leave a fear of commitment in us which makes us give second thoughts on marriage. But the thought of having someone by our side forever, a shoulder to lean on, someone to share our happiness and sorrows with and being head-over-heels in love are a few reasons why we have a soft corner for marriages. No matter how much we deny the idea of getting married to our parents, the vision of a happy, settled life excites us. But it is our destiny that decides our future and we must believe in God’s plans. (Also Read: Kareena Kapoor's Bridal Sharara Is Almost A 100 Year-Old Heirloom, First Worn By This Pataudi Begum)
Though Sharmila Tagore and late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's children, Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan are living their ‘happily ever after’ with their respective spouses, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kunal Kemmu, their 45-year-old daughter, Saba Ali Khan is happily single. Unlike Saif and Soha, Saba stayed away from the limelight and instead of following the path of her star-family by joining the industry, she had chosen to be a jewellery designer by profession. Saba is also a mutawalli (Chief Trustee) of the Auqaf-e-Shahi (Royal Trust) established by the princely state of Bhopal as a royal charitable endowment. It was very rare when we got to see Saba in the parties and get-togethers as she had preferred to stay away from the limelight, but now, thanks to social media, we often get to see her pictures on her profile.

A Start… As Mutawalli.” In the interview, when Saba was asked, “Any plans of marriage?” she had retorted, “I am firm believer in divine timing. There is nobody in my life yet but I want to lead a settled life. I leave it to almighty’s wish.”

In a throwback 2013 interview with the Filmfare, Soha Ali Khan had spoken about why marriage for her is irrelevant. She was quoted as saying, “I believe in the values that underline a marriage – commitment, loyalty, fidelity, trust and love. We know live-in isn’t a blue print for everyone. But it works for us. Maybe, because I want more time with Kunal. It’s so much easier to live under one roof as opposed to commuting from one corner of the city to another. I also like the stability it brings. I’m high maintenance with emotions. Honestly, I don’t see the need for a marriage certificate. That certificate won’t add value. People have opted out of a marriage at the blink of an eye. If someone wants to cheat on me, I don’t want them to refrain from it because of marriage. I have too much pride for that. I deserve loyalty, love and to be wanted. I wouldn’t get any extra comfort knowing that Kunal is my husband and not my boyfriend. Marriage to me is irrelevant.”
Soha Ali Khan had then revealed how her thoughts on marriage is different or similar to her mother, Sharmila Tagore and her siblings, Saif Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan. Soha had continued, “In India, marriage is often a goal. We are lucky to have parents who indulge us. Whether they agree or disagree, it’s kind that they support our whims. Right now, we haven’t discussed marriage at all. Kunal’s parents too are sensible, open-minded and liberal. My mom is happy because I’m happy. Because she comes from a different generation, she has her bouts of frustration. She looks at life a certain way. She believes marriage and having children is important for certain reasons. She’s wise hence, I don’t dismiss her. My brother has a different take on things. He doesn’t see the need to get married until a person has reached 40. But that’s inconvenient for a girl who wants to have kids eventually. Whereas, my elder sister Saba is all for marriage. But no one enforces his/her views on the other.” (Also Read: Kareena Kapoor Khan Twinning With Her Sister-In-Law, Saba Ali Khan Speaks Volumes Of Sisterhood Bond)
