Saif Ali Khan, who is currently being treated after being brutally stabbed in a robbery attempt, once slammed the paparazzi for intruding on his and his family's privacy.
Saif Ali Khan is one of the most beloved actors in the Hindi film industry. Despite hailing from a wealthy background and being the son of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, Saif has never shied away from working hard. His dedication to his work, good looks, and natural charisma have won fans' hearts ever since his debut. Thus, when news broke of the actor being brutally attacked in a robbery gone wrong at his home on January 16, 2025, the nation was left shaken. The attack on Saif has called into question the safety protocols for celebrities yet again. In fact, Saif himself had once called out the paparazzi for intruding on his and his family's privacy before this tragic incident occurred.
The recent attack on Saif Ali Khan has once again raised the issue of the security of celebrities who are constantly in the public eye. It is no secret that stars are hounded by the paparazzi even if they step out for something as simple as a coffee. In fact, Saif himself called out the invasive nature of the shutterbugs last year when they entered his building premises with cameras despite not having permission to do so.
In March 2023, Saif and his wife and actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan were returning home from an evening out with the paparazzi hot on their trails. Not only did the shutterbugs follow them to their building, but they even barged in through the main gate. Saif, upset by the intrusion, slammed their behavior and said:
"Aap ek kaam kariye, humare bedroom main aa jaiye."
Despite Saif's obvious taunt, the photographers did not stop following the couple. In fact, they stayed exactly where they were until Saif finally shut the door to the building.
Saif Ali Khan later offered clarity on his taunt to the paparazzi regarding entering his bedroom. The star stated that he did not blame the security guard in the least. Rather, he felt it was the paparazzi at fault as they needed to learn boundaries. In a statement, Saif said:
"We cooperate with the paparazzi all the time and we understand but outside the house, outside the gate, otherwise, where does one draw the line? That is why I made the comment about the bedroom because they had already crossed one line, so how many lines does one have to cross before it's utterly ridiculous."
Saif further confirmed that neither was the building's security guard being fired, nor was legal action being taken against the shutterbugs. However, he still called out their invasive and 'wrong behaviour,' saying in his statement:
"The building security guard is not being sacked, it is not his fault and neither is anybody taking legal action against the paps because that is not how we want to do things. However, the fact is that they did barge inside the private property through the gate, past the security guard and completely invaded our space and put 20 cameras and lights on us as if it's their right to do that, and this is wrong behaviour and everyone needs to be in limits."
For the unversed, on the late night of January 15, 2024, a group of robbers invaded Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's Bandra home while they were allegedly asleep. The incident occurred around 2:30 am. When Saif confronted the burglars, they stabbed him several times. He was stabbed six times, with two of the injuries being serious. The robbers fled as soon as the other occupants of the house woke up. A senior IPS officer confirmed the incident and said:
"Saif Ali Khan has been admitted to the Lilavati hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. It is not clear yet, if he is stabbed or injured in the scuffle with the robber. We have been investigating the matter. The Mumbai crime branch is also conducting a parallel investigation into the incident."
