When Sunny Deol Shared If He Forced Wife, Pooja To Stay Away From Limelight, 'Has Liberty To Take..'

In an old interview, Sunny Deol mentioned how his wife, Pooja Deol has her own liberty while making significant decisions concerning her life, just like his mother, Prakash Kaur.

Bollywood actor, Sunny Deol is loved for his onscreen presence. Be it his acting skills, action scenes or romance with co-stars in the films, Sunny aces it all. Thus, Sunny has often been linked with many actresses with whom he swooned millions of hearts with their hot chemistry. However, Sunny's wife, Pooja Deol never worked in films, and just like the other ladies of her sasural, the star wife stayed away from the limelight. Now, we stumbled upon an old interview with the actor, wherein he addressed the same and revealed other anecdotes of his personal life.

Sunny Deol revealed whether he has forced his wife, Pooja Deol to stay away from the limelight

In an old interview with Deccan Chronicle in 2013, Sunny Deol was asked why Pooja Deol stays away from the limelight just like his mother, Prakash Kaur and his brother, Bobby Deol's wife, Tanya Deol. He was also asked whether the men in his family force their wives to do the same. To this, Sunny promptly mentioned that this was untrue. Instead, he revealed that Pooja takes her own decision and she stayed away from the media only because the star wife never wanted to make frequent public appearances. She said:

"That’s not true. Neither my mother nor my wife was forced to stay away from the limelight. My wife is her own person. She has always had the liberty to make her own decisions. To not make public appearances is her own call. Like I said, neither my father nor I have forced the women in our family to follow our rules."

Sunny mentioned how he mastered the skill of calming down despite being upset at certain things

In the same conversation, Sunny talked about being a cool-headed person. The actor revealed that since he is the elder son of Dharmendra, he had to take certain things on his shoulders. Thus, he mentioned how, despite being upset at certain things, he has learned to remain calm. He added:

"Over the years I’ve realised that you cannot control everything. My father is the head of the family but being his eldest son I have to manage the family. I’ve been a big brother to my brother Bobby, cousin Abhay and a responsible father to my sons Karan and Rajveer. Yes, certain things do upset me. Like everyone else, even I lose my cool at times. But I think I’ve mastered the art of calming down."

Sunny Deol is also famous for his linkup rumours with many B-town divas, including Amrita Singh and Dimple Kapadia. Thus, in an old ITMB interview from 1984, Sunny addressed the baseless rumours regarding his love life. After confirming that he doesn't get affected much by his linkup rumours, he was also asked if those reports ever reached his then-fiancee and now-wife, Pooja Deol. To this, Sunny replied that he didn't know about that. In his words:

“Well, such things happen, it’s part of the game. I don’t know if it reaches her. There’s nothing like that.”

When Sunny Deol reacted to his linkup rumours with Amrita Singh

For the unversed, when Amrita Singh made her Bollywood debut with the 1983 film, Betaab, opposite Sunny Deol, multiple media reports claimed that the duo had come quite close to each other during the film's shooting. It was also reported that the actress was totally infatuated with Sunny, and their affair soon started. It was also mentioned that Sunny had kept his marriage with Pooja hidden from Amrita, which led to an abrupt end to their romance. In the same interview, Sunny was inquired whether the rumours about him dating Amrita made him angry, and he gave a playful response. He had said:

“Picture line join karne se pehle dekha hai maine log kya likhte hai, toh ye sab kuch sehna padta hai. Gussa aata hai kabhi kabhi jab woh kuch zyada he utpatang likh dete hai, toh fir koe mila toh usko pakadke maar dena, aur kya karna?"

Sunny and Pooja tied the knot with each other in 1984. They are blessed with two sons, Karan Deol and Rajveer Deol. While Karan made his Bollywood debut with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in 2019, Rajveer's first Bollywood film, Dono, was released in 2023.
