Meet one of the most popular Canadian YouTubers, Jasmeet Raina, who disappeared from YouTube at the peak of his career. Here's everything you need to know about the YouTube star-turned-actor.
Jasmeet Singh Raina, commonly known as Jasmeet Raina is one of the most popular Canadian YouTubers in the world. Cherishing his Punjabi roots, Jasmeet has become a tall figure in the Canadian YouTube scene, as he is among Much Digital Studios' original creators. He was born on November 4, 1989, in Canada's Guelph, into an immigrant Punjabi Kashmiri Sikh family. His parents wanted him to become a doctor, like most of the parents. In order to fulfil his parents' dream, he even took admission at the University of Guelph.
However, in the following years, Jasmeet Raina's YouTube channel brought him so much success that even his parents turned supportive of his unconventional career. The YouTuber kick-started his YouTube journey back on July 15, 2009, when he made his channel by the name, 'JusReign'. So far, he has uploaded 164 videos to his YouTube channel and has 965K subscribers. His most-watched video on YouTube is the iconic song he released 12 years ago, The Swag Song, which has 8.8 million views so far.
Apart from this, Jasmeet Raina's other insanely popular videos are Shit White Guys Say To Brown Guys, Goodbye ft. Jus Reign, Desi Parents and School, Bounce, Driving Instructors From Hell, Desi Parents and Health, Desi Parents and Money, and many more. Courtesy of the massive success he was achieving in his 20s, he opened another YouTube channel for uploading daily vlogs by the name, JusReignToo. He has 169K subscribers on this channel and has uploaded 28 videos so far. Apart from YouTube, Jasmeet also has a strong fanbase of 488K followers on Instagram.
One of the biggest reasons why Jasmeet Singh Raina is one of the most popular YouTubers in Canada is because of the sudden break he took from YouTube back in 2018. One day, he simply left the YouTube space without telling anyone or dropping a formal message on his social media handles. From not uploading a single video or even replying to his followers' messages, several YouTubers made numerous videos on the sudden absence of Jasmeet from the spotlight. Things even took a darker turn when some people started speculating whether he was alive or not.
After a long wait, Jasmeet Singh Raina returned to social media after a gap of six years. However, most of the things about him have changed. His personality was a bit different, and unlike those old days, he didn't drop jokes here and there. The YouTuber looked more mature and shared that he has written an eight-episode comedy series, Late Bloomer, in which he plays the character, 'Jasmeet Dutta'. The web show premiered on Crave and received a lot of love from the audience.
During the promotions of his web show, Late Bloomer, Jasmeet Singh Raina opened up about his sudden departure from the social media. The YouTuber gave an unfiltered look at a creator's life, as he shared that there was a lot of pressure on him to deliver things no matter what was happening in his personal life. Jasmeet admitted that being on the internet all the time in his 20s took a toll on his mental health.
Apart from taking a break from YouTube because he became worn down by the demanding life of a YouTube creator, Jasmeet Singh Raina also stayed away from social media because he was focusing on creating a show. Jasmeet admitted that he wanted to break his 'clown' image on the internet in order to pursue a brand new journey with Late Bloomer. He further admitted that most of the things shown in Late Bloomer are inspired by his life, which was why he took a big break to work on this project. Jasmeet's massive fanbase is pretty excited about his new journey, and the show has already garnered him immense fame. As per multiple reports, the talks of a second season have already started.
It looks like it was just yesterday when Jasmeet Singh Raina, aka JusReign, became the first-generation Indo-Canadian millennial, garnering more than 160 million views on his YouTube channel. Fast-forward to 2024, and that young funny guy has transformed into a grown adult who still has great comic timing but is now more focused on telling stories in the form of films and web shows. We hope he achieves the same success in his new journey, too.
