Meet one of the lesser-known members of iconic filmmaker, Sooraj Barjatya's family, Kavita Barjatya, who never got married after her first marriage ended within four months.
Sooraj Barjatya is one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of Hindi cinema. He made films that are still rent-free in the hearts of many cinemaholics. Even after many years, we often find memes featuring scenes or songs from his iconic films. There's no denying that every single one of his films has a cultural reference, especially for kids in the '90s. However, his last film, Uunchai, received a lot of love even from the Gen Z audience.
For the uninitiated, Sooraj Barjatya has directed seven films in 33 years. The movies that have stood the test of time and have a big place in India's pop culture include Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Vivah. Apart from being an iconic filmmaker, Sooraj Barjatya is one of history's most sought-after filmmakers. His name has never popped up in any sort of controversy despite being in the industry for so many years.
Talking about Sooraj Barjatya's family background, the producer was born into a Marwari Jain family on February 22, 1965. While his father, Raj Kumar Barjatya was a renowned film producer in Hindi cinema, not much is known about Sooraj's mother, Sudha Barjatya. Courtesy of Raj Kumar Barjatya's involvement in the film business, Sooraj was introduced to cinema quite early in his life. As a result, he followed in his father's footsteps and decided to become a director.
However, not everyone is aware of Sooraj Barjatya's grandfather and Raj Kumar Barjatya's father, Tarachand Barjatya, who started it all. It was Tarachand Barjatya, who founded Rajshri Productions back in 1947 and produced a series of iconic films. Some of the biggest films he produced with Rajshri Productions include Dosti, Jeevan Mrityu, Saudagar, Tapasya, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Taraana, Nadiya Ke Paar, and Saaransh.
There's no denying the fact that the Barjatya family has contributed heavily to Hindi cinema. However, there's still one person in the Barjatya family, who is known to a small section of society. We are talking about Tarachand Barjatya's son, Kamal Kumar Barjatya's daughter, Kavita Barjatya. For the uninitiated, Kamal Kumar and Raj Kumar are cousins, naturally making their children, Kavita and Sooraj, cousins, too. According to several reports, Kavita is the managing director of the Rajshri Productions.
Talking about Sooraj Barjatya's lesser-known cousin-sister, Kavita Barjatya, who is a film and television producer. She was born on November 12, 1977, and is 12 years younger than him. She completed her schooling in Mumbai, and for graduation, she took admission to Sydenham College of Economics. Not only this, Kavita has a post-graduation degree in management from NIIMS University. Apart from this, she is also a trained vocal singer and professional Kathak dancer.
Talking about Kavita Barjatya's career as a producer, it all started when she assisted her cousin-brother, Sooraj Barjatya in his film, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon. In the following years, Kavita took command of Rajshri Productions' television wing and created a lasting legacy for the next eight years. Kavita produced a series of renowned television shows like Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. Courtesy of her mark in the television industry, she is also on the advisory board of ITA School of Performing Arts.
Despite being a member of the Barjatya family and a distinguished figure in the Indian television industry, Kavita Barjatya always preferred to live a life away from the media spotlight. Hence, there's not much information about her personal life in the public domain. However, as per multiple reports, she got married, but something happened within the first 100 days, which caused her to part ways with her husband.
The reason behind Kavita Barjatya's heartbreaking divorce is not known, but according to several media reports, she is currently single and hasn't considered marriage again. The 47-year-old producer is committed to her work and reportedly isn't thinking about marriage at the moment. We hope Kavita continues to make her mark in the Indian television industry for years to come.
