Krishna Kumar Menon, popularly known as Kay Kay Menon, is one of the most acclaimed actors in the Hindi film industry. Born into a Malayali family in Kerala and raised in Pune, Maharashtra, Kay Kay began his career in the advertising industry. However, his stint with acting began when he ventured into theatre.
He began his career initially by working on a few TV shows and made his big screen debut in 1995 with the film, Naseem. Nivedita is popular for her roles in TV shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Saath Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, Balika Vadhu and many others. The actress has also played supporting roles in films like Kya Kehna, Phobia, Aiyaary, and The Vaccine War.
It was during his theatre days that Kay Kay met Nivedita. They were introduced to each other during the rehearsals of a play and had common friends. They worked together, became friends, and eventually, their friendship transitioned into love.
Do you know that the adorable couple decided to get married to save their rent? In a city like Mumbai, it was quite daunting to pay the rent, and that is when Kay Kay and Nivedita decided to get married. In an interview with Free Press Journal, Nivedita spoke about the same and shared:
“We were in the initial stepping stones, struggling, looking for more work, our careers had just begun. We said okay, might as well just get married. Instead of giving rent to two different houses, we’ll just pay the rent for one.”
In 2002, Kay Kay and Nivedita got married, but the couple never talked about their marriage or posed together for shutterbugs. Many people didn’t know that Kay Kay was married to the actress. Revealing why they decided to be ‘secretive’ about their marriage, Nivedita, in the same interview, stated:
“It’s a part of our life and there’s no need to bring that forward because both our agendas are that our work should do the talking and those who know us, know we’re married. We didn’t want to shout from a rooftop ‘oh we’re a couple, look at us, take our pictures’. We’re only visible when our work is visible.”
