Here's everything you need to know about NCP leader, Baba Siddique's son, Zeeshan Siddique, who has recently been in the headlines since his father's sudden demise by shooting.
Zeeshan Siddique, son of NCP leader, Baba Siddique, has recently suffered an immense loss. His father, a dynamic figure in Indian politics, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 after being shot multiple times by three unidentified assailants. Not only that, but the incident occurred just outside Zeeshan's office in Colagate.
Zeeshan Baba Siddique is an MLA from Vandre East, who was born on October 3, 1992, in Bandra, Mumbai. The then-young boy was raised in a politically charged environment, as his father, Baba Ziaudin Siddique, has always been a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics. This led to Zeeshan himself developing an interest in politics at a relatively early age.
Ever since he was a little boy, Zeeshan had been certain that he wanted to have a career in public service. For that reason, he decided to pursue a Bachelor of Management Studies degree as well as a Master of Global Management and Public Leadership degree. His education, thus, prepared him with the needed skills and knowledge to survive in the complicated world of politics and public administration.
Zeeshan then ventured into politics, with his journey being heavily influenced by his family's political ties and legacy. He joined the Indian National Congress party, where his leadership skills and dedication to public service helped him rise through the ranks quickly.
Zeeshan’s political career recently hit quite a rocky patch, when he was accused of cross-voting amidst the 2024 elections. The scandal caused the Indian National Congress to dethrone him as the party's youth wing president of its Mumbai unit.
Zeeshan, however, vehemently denied the claims and blamed his expulsion on the party’s communal approach and discrimination. In an interview with NDTV, he said:
“The treatment being meted out to minority leaders and workers in the Congress is unfortunate. The extent of communalism in the Congress and Mumbai Youth Congress is unlike anywhere else. Is it a sin to be a Muslim in the Congress? The party has to answer why am I being targeted? Is it only because I am a Muslim?”
Our hearts go out to Zeeshan Siddique and the rest of Baba Siddique’s family during this tragic time.
