Simi Garewal was once married to an aristocrat from Delhi. Read on to know details about her ex-husband.
The gorgeous Simi Garewal needs no introduction. Even at the age of 77, her grace and poise is second to none. Cousin of Yash Chopra’s wife, Pamela Chopra, Simi Garewal, began her acting journey with the film, Do Badan in 1966. She proved her versatility as an actress with films like Saathi, Mera Naam Joker, Siddhartha, Karz and many others.
Apart from films, Simi is widely known for her popular talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, in which she has introduced some of the eminent personalities from across the globe. Throughout her life, Simi had many romantic liaisons. But she finally settled and got married to an aristocrat named Ravi Mohan. Let us read to know who was Simi Garewal’s ex-husband, Ravi Mohan and why their marriage broke.
In 1970, Simi Garewal took her forever journey when she got married to Ravi Mohan. He was a member of the aristocratic family of Delhi-the Chunnamals. Before tying the knot with Ravi, Simi had a long-distance relationship with Ravi. Soon, they realised they were made for each other and tied the nuptial knot.
Simi was just 27 when she married Ravi Mohan. After a few years of marriage, cracks started appearing, and Simi realised that they were two different people. In a throwback interview, Simi revealed she was aware that her marriage with Ravi wouldn’t work out and said:
“I got married at 27, within three months of knowing my ex-husband long-distance. I knew the moment I’d done it, it won’t work. We were two very different people. And this idea of women having to leave their home and work just because they got married is really unfair."
Despite getting married, Simi and Ravi lived away from each other. In a throwback interview with Filmfare, the actress stated that they had been living separately for the longest time. Adding how there is no ill will despite the divorce, Simi shared:
“We were two nice people but not made for each other. It was a long-distance marriage. We started living apart more and more but divorced over a decade later. The good thing is that there was never any ill-will. I’m close to his family even now.”
Simi Garewal and Ravi Mohan were married for ten years but had no children. When they parted ways, Simi realised not having a child was her biggest regret. Speaking to Filmfare about the same, she revealed how back at one point in time, she was almost on the verge of adopting a baby girl named Vijaya, whom she found abandoned at the railway station by her parents. Elaborating on the same, Simi stated:
“You know, the biggest regret in my life is not having a child. I have never admitted this before but at times, I wonder what’s all this for? Who’s going to take our legacy forward? I nearly adopted a girl once. I went to an orphanage and found this girl called Vijaya, who was abandoned at the railway station by her parents.”
While the advertisements about the girl were immediately made in newspapers, no one claimed her for two months. Simi then added that it was then that she decided to take her home and adopt her. Unfortunately, out of the blue, Vijaya’s biological parents contacted her right on the verge of the time when she was about to get the girl’s custody.
Apart from Ravi Mohan, Simi Garewal also dated eminent personalities like Ratan Tata and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
