Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma's divorce caused a lot of clamour around the nation. The latter was called gold-digger, and somehow Yuzevendra also gave a major hint about what went wrong.
Indian cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal was famous for his fun-loving nature and always smiling attitude. However, he changed over the course of time and looked extremely serious, and one of his teammates, Hardik Pandya, also confirmed that he went through a lot in the past few months. Amidst his divorce battle with his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma, a lot of assumptions were being made. Recently, the actual reason for their separation has been shared by veteran journalist Vickey Lalwani, who shared in detail what went wrong between the two.
According to an Instagram post by Vickey Lalwani, Yuzvendra and Dhanashree parted ways due to the latter's wish to live in Mumbai, as she asked the cricketer to leave his home in Haryana. The journalist further claimed that Dhanashree and Yuzvendra had different personalities, according to a source.
Vickey, further in his note, stated that Dhanashree came up with the unjust demand that made Yuzvendra fall off. He was baffled and tried explaining Dhanashree, but soon their discussion turned into a fight. He wrote:
"Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma never got along much as they are two totally different personalities, says a source in the know. Suddenly, one fine day, Dhanashree put her foot down on something that made Yuzi fall off the chair. The leg spinner was baffled; he tried explaining to Dhanashree that her demand was unjust. The two discussed, argued and fought. Dhanashree wanted Yuzi to shift bag and baggage from Haryana to Mumbai."
Vickey further in his Instagram post claimed that Dhanashree shifted to Haryana to live with her ex-husband, Yuzvendra and his parents. They would come to Mumbai when they needed to. On the other hand, Yuzvendra was sure that he would not uproot himself from his home's and surrounding. The note further stated:
"After tying the knot, Yuzi and Dhanashree had shifted to stay with Yuzi’s parents in Haryana and came to Mumbai only when they needed to. Yes, this Mumbai-Haryana jhagda was one of the main reasons why this much-in-the-paparazzi-world marriage ended. Yuzi was clear that he wouldn’t uproot himself from his parents’ home and surroundings."
On March 20, 2025, Yuzvendra Chaha and Dhanashree Verma arrived at the family court for the final hearing of their divorce petition. However, it was Yuzvendra's outfit of the day that seemed to show he had a tough marriage with Dhanashree Verma as he openly taunted her by wearing a t-shirt with a quote, 'Be your own sugar daddy'. He proudly showed it off in front of the media, which seemed to be a silent message for his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma.
In a way, Yuzvendra silently approved the trollers, who called Dhanashree gold digger. As soon as the photos of Yuzvendra from outside the court went viral, netizens started reacting to it.
