Recently, Zarina Wahab opened up about her daughter, Sana Pancholi losing her debut role to Kangana Ranaut. She says Sana never wanted to do films, but the latter's earlier interviews contradict this.
Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab are well-recognized faces from the '90s. However, the couple's kids haven't quite been able to break into Bollywood the way their parents did. Their son, Sooraj Pancholi, has been trying to make it big since his 2015 film, Hero . Their daughter, Sana, too, was an aspiring actress in the early 2000s. Interestingly, she was supposed to debut in the 2005 release, Shakalaka Boom Boom . However, she was eventually replaced by Kangana Ranaut. Her mother recently opened up about the same, claiming that Sana had never wanted to be an actress in the first place.
Zarina Wahab recently sat for an interview with Lehren Retro, during which she opened up about her daughter, Sana Pancholi's potential acting career. She revealed that the youngster had never wanted to be an actress, and recalling her reasons, Zarina said:
"That was not her cup of tea. She never wanted to be an actress. Like, how you force in the family, 'kar lo beta' but she was like, 'nahi mumma mujhe nahi karna '. Firstly, she doesn't She was given a low-neck thing to wear, she didn't even come out of her room, that was the main thing. She still doesn't wear such clothes."
The Chitchor actress insisted that becoming an actress had never been her daughter's goal. Revealing that their family doesn't even talk about it anymore, she further stated:
"We never even talk about it now, not even in a joking way."
When speaking with the Hindustan Times in 2013, Sana Pancholi firmly stated that she had zero regrets about losing her debut film, Shakalaka Boom Boom , to Kangana Ranaut. According to her, things may not have gone to plan, but she wasn't holding on to anything.
Interestingly, in contrast to what her mother, Zarina, said in the recent interview, Sana one expressed a desire to be an actress. She completed her education in Los Angeles and wanted to be a part of "realistic movies." In Sana's words:
"I have studied acting in LA. But I don't want to dance around. I'm good at dancing but I'm not interested in that kind of cinema. I want to do realistic movies. I've got a lot of offers but I can't picture myself doing them."
For the unversed, Sana's father, Aditya Pancholi, was having an affair with Kangana during this period. The latter eventually accused him of physical assault , mental harassment, and even rape, while he slammed her with a defamation case.
Earlier, this year, Shakalaka Boom Boom director, Suneel Darshan addressed the film's casting issues. Speaking with Times Now, he revealed that Kangana Ranaut was "almost locked in for the role," but she "suddenly went off the radar and was untraceable."
Sunil stated that Sana Pancholi was cast in the film during this period. However, things didn't work out with her either, as the film "demanded a different personality and profile." That is when they "traced" Kangana in Dubai and immediately flew her "into Johannesburg to start filming."
What do you think about Zarina Wahab's claims that her daughter never wanted to be in films?
