Recently, Zayed Khan shared that his son, Zidaan Khan, faced a life-and-death situation when he was three years old. Read on to learn more about it.
Zayed Khan is popularly known for his famous role 'Lakshman' or 'Lucky' from the movie, Main Hoon Na. He recently shared an emotional incident while talking about his elder son, Zidaan Khan in a conversation with his Main Hoon Na co-star, Amrita Rao on her YouTube channel, Couple of Things.
Zayed Khan shared that his elder son, Zidaan Khan, struggled with a severe respiratory condition since his childhood. He said that during his London trip with his family, he had undergone a terrifying experience when Zidaan faced a life-threatening respiratory attack.
The actor said that Zidaan was only three years old when that incident took place. Zayed Khan further said that Zidaan suddenly came to him and said that he could not breathe. Then, his wife, Malaika Parekh, called for an ambulance and took their little kid to the hospital, where they were informed that it was a life-and-death situation. Zayed stressed that his wife, Malaika, remained calm in that situation and supported him. She handled the situation very well. In his words:
"My elder son Zidaan had a very big respiratory problem at the age of 3. We were in London when he had a particularly bad attack. He came to me and said, 'Papa help me, I can't breathe.' My wife is very strong when it comes to dealing with medical emergencies, and she immediately called an ambulance, which arrived in 15 minutes."
Zayed Khan shared the horrific moments when the nurse came to them and told them that their son, Zidaan's condition is quite critical and asked for permission to administer an adrenaline injection. He appreciated the medical system of London and said four doctors quickly prepared for the emergency operation that could have involved cutting Zidaan's throat if the steroids would not have worked. Zayed said he and his wife were in immense agony because, for a fraction of a moment, they felt the pain of losing a child, which was unexplainable. But fortunately, the steroids worked out, and the doctors avoided the surgery. In his words:
"The nurse nodded at us, indicating that he wasn't sure if Zidaan will survive. He took out an adrenaline injection and asked for my permission to inject it into Zidaan. I have to credit the healthcare system in London—they immediately called four doctors from all over the city to the hospital. They would have had to cut his throat if the steroids didn't work because there is nothing worse than the thought of losing. a child. Thankfully, after a couple of hours, the steroids started working, and they didn't need to proceed with the surgery."
Zayed Khan, in the same conversation with Amrita Rao, said that the doctors told him that his son, Zidaan Khan, might always have the condition, and he has to live with this respiratory condition. But Zayed did not let the doctor's words control Zidaan's life. He encouraged his son to play outdoor activities such as parkour and high jumps. The actor then said that his son is now perfectly fine and has a 'fantastic body'. Zidaan has proved all the doctors wrong.
