In a recent Instagram post, iconic actress, Zeenat Aman opened up about the filming of the timeless song, 'Dum Maro Dum', and recalled her mother's reaction to her being 'high as a kite'.
Zeenat Aman is once again in the headlines, and this time for the revelation she made about the time when she was working with legendary actor, Dev Anand in the film, Hare Rama Hare Krishna. The 1971 film was directed by Dev Anand and featured Zeenat Aman in the role of a drug addict named Jasbir Jaiswal'. On September 23, 2024, Zeenat took to her Instagram handle and posted a picture of herself from the sets of Hare Rama Hare Krishna. In the picture, Zeenat looks stunning, as always, and can be seen smoking a chellum.
The picture is doing rounds on the internet, but it is the caption of her IG post that has set the headlines on fire. Along with the picture, Zeenat Aman penned a long caption in which she talked about the filming of her film's hit track, Dum Maro Dum. The actress revealed they were shooting in Kathmandu and picked some hippies from the streets for the song. The actress added that the hippies were delighted to be able to appear in a Bollywood movie, and all of them agreed to be a part of Dum Maro Dum.
Further, in the caption, Zeenat Aman revealed that Dev Anand wanted the entire setup to look real, and that was when she decided to smoke the chillum. The actress admitted that she took long puffs of chillum offered by the hippies when she was reportedly just 20. After every take, Zeenat was taking puffs of chillum, and by the end of shooting, she was high as a kite. Recalling the exact day, Zeenat added that she started feeling dizzy and uncomfortable when she returned to the hotel after the song's shooting.
At the end of her caption, Zeenat Aman also opened up about her mother, Scinda Heinz's reaction, when she learnt about her daughter being high as a kite. The actress shared her mom was absolutely furious and lost her calm on the crew members. Scinda lashed out at the senior crew member for allowing her daughter to do drugs with unknown people. It was a tense situation, but Zeenat was spared by her mother just because she was young. An excerpt from her caption can be read as:
"My mother was furious when she learnt what happened, and gave the senior crew members a sharp tongue lashing for allowing her precious child to "do drugs"! Luckily, I was spared her wrath."
For the uninitiated, Dev Anand was 48, and Zeenat Aman was just 20 when they were working in Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Despite their huge age difference, Dev Anand couldn't stop himself from falling in love with Zeenat Aman. Although he never confessed his love to Zeenat once he saw the actress having a great time with Raj Kapoor at a party. In his autobiography, Dev Anand talked about his love for Zeenat. However, when the actress learned about it, she admitted that the actor had never told her about his feelings and also added that there was nothing between her and Raj Kapoor. Zeenat Aman termed her dating rumours with Raj Kapoor a major 'misunderstanding'.
