A.R. Rahman is one of the brightest stars of the musical world. The Oscar-winning music composer treated the world with some marvellous melodies, and there is no denying that he rules millions and millions of hearts. In his personal life, A. R. Rahman is married to Saira Banu, and the duo is the proud parents of their three adorable kids, Khatija, Raheema, and AR Ameen. However, one of the wealthiest music composers, A.R. Rahman, recently talked about the financial challenges he faced in the early days of his career and shared how he teaches valuable lessons to his kids to be aware of everything that is going on.

A.R. Rahman talks about the financial challenges that he faced

In a recent interview with The Hindu, A.R. Rahman shared that he is clear about one thing if one is not smart, then the money can be squandered. The talented artist also mentioned that he went through a lot of financial trouble with his sisters and mom. Talking along the same line, A.R. Rahman stated that the burden he carried and shared with his mom made him what he is today, and it helps him to make grounded decisions even today. He said:

"One thing I was very clear about; whatever money I leave for anyone, it’ll disappear in a day if they are not smart enough and don’t understand the legacy. I went through so much financial trouble along with my mom and sisters, but those lessons — the burden that I shared with my mom — made me who I am today. Even now, those experiences help me make grounded decisions."

A.R. Rahman reveals he never hides any bad news from his kids to teach them valuable lessons

In the same interview, A.R. Rahman stated that he never hides anything from his kids, even if it is bad news. The music composer mentioned that he talks about loans he takes and mortgages he pays, and it is not torture, but it's to teach them valuable lessons. A.R. Rahman said:

"So I really want my children to be aware of everything going on; I don’t believe in hiding any bad news or problems from them. I even inform them if I get a loan for a building and the mortgage I’m paying. This is not to torture them, but only to make them learn.”

A.R. Rahman opens up about nepotism in the music industry

Further, in the same interview, A.R. Rahman opened up about nepotism in the music industry. The talented artist shared that although people have learnt this term recently, he thinks it will be a godown if his kids aren't into what he has built. He stated that with everything he has built on his own and with his care and passion, he hopes his kids take over from him in the future. The king of melody shared:

"When it comes to them following me into music and charting their respective paths, well, people nowadays have learnt this new term… nepotism. I have built all this stuff, this entire world; if my kids aren’t into it, this entire place is going to become a godown! Every step, every inch of every wall, and every chair in my studio has been selected with so much passion and care, and I hope for them to take over from me in the future.”
