Aamir Khan is a man with many hats. He is not just an amazing actor but also a producer and a director. He has the right ideas and a wide vision to make a film iconic for years. However, not many know that in the '90s, Aamir Khan made millions of fans in awe with his song, Aati Kya Khandala, from the 1998 film, Ghulam. The song became an emotion for many, and Khandala became the most-loved weekend getaway for people of Mumbai and Pune. However, not many know that it marked Aamir Khan's singing debut, but he wasn't ready to lend his voice to the chartbuster number.
For those who don't know, the song, Aati Kya Khandala wasn't planned, and no one knew that Aamir Khan had it in him to make his singing debut. However, despite all odds, Aamir nailed his performance while singing the superhit song. Recently, composer, Lalit Pandit, who composed the song, recalled how tough it was to persuade Aamir Khan to lend his voice to the peppy song.

In an interview with Times Now, Lalit shared that they got the idea of making the song during their car ride to the film's set. Aamir Khan was driving the car, and Jatin-Lalit and Vikram Bhatt were sitting in the passenger seat. He added that while they were planning for a song, Aamir Khan surprised them while humming the song, Sagar Jaisi Aankhon Wali on their way to the set. Lalit found Aamir's voice soothing and he suggested that Aamir should sing a song for their film, Ghulam. While Aamir liked the idea, he found it surprising and was reluctant to commit right away.
Lalit Pandit further shared that writer, Nitin Raikwar penned the lyrics of Aati Kya Khandala, which matched the theme of the film and Aamir's character. Lalit recalled that Aamir was careful, and he agreed to record the song with one condition. Aamir wanted to secretly record the song, and if he didn't like it, they would scrap it.

Lalit further revealed that despite the busy shooting schedule, Aamir lived up to his promise and would rehearse the song. In fact, Aamir surprised everyone with his voice in the song, and they didn't face any problems while recording it. He further revealed how the shooting of the song faced difficulties as Aamir wasn't happy with the initial shots. In fact, the actor scrapped the first shoot and reshot the entire sequence.
Aamir Khan's song, Aati Kya Khandala, is still crooned amongst the youth, and it even became a call sign to hint that they want a vacation with their loved ones.
