Aanand L Rai Reveals Kangana Ranaut Changed Post The Success Of 'Tanu Weds Manu,' 'She Was On..'

Kangana Ranaut has been one of the most talented and inspiring actresses in Bollywood. Her journey from a simple background to one of the highest-paid actresses in the Hindi film industry has been spectacular. However, the actress' candid and upfront approach often surrounds her with controversies. She did everything from sharing political views to criticising the insiders in Bollywood. Recently, Aanand L Rai, the filmmaker who worked with Kangana in two of her most successful films, shared his experience working with her.

Aanand L Rai added that he still receives appreciation for both the movies. There were rumours that he had differences with the actress during the filming of Tanu Weds Manu Returns. In the same interview, he accepted that they both had changed after the success of their previous films. She was working with him after the success of Tanu Weds Manu and Queen. On the other hand, he had made successful films like Tanu Weds Manu and Ranjhanaa. He was quoted as saying:

"If we talk about Kangana, Tanu Weds Manu (was released in) 2011. Then she went and did Queen (2013), and then she came for (Tanu Weds Manu) Returns. In an actor's life, there is also a graph. By that time, as a director, I also did not want to repeat myself. Kangana wanted to grow, and she was on the rise. I think what went right with us is we were hungry at that point in time, in our own space."

Aanand L Rai shared that it was challenging to direct Kangana in Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Aanand L Rai shared that it was difficult to make Tanu Weds Manu Returns when he and Kangana looked for better growth in their respective careers after recent successes. But, he loved to take challenges and enjoyed it. In his words:

"For Datto (Kangana's charatcer in Tanu Weds Manu Returns) to be like that… and Himanshu (Sharma, the writer of the film), who wrote the first and then he wrote (the second one too)… Me and Himanshu were coming after Ranjhanaa. So, it was Tanu Weds Manu, Ranjhanaa and (Tanu Weds Manu Returns) and she was coming from Tanu Weds Manu, Queen and (Tanu And Manu Returns). So it was difficult, and we wanted it to be difficult."
