The Indian television industry has given us many popular names who, over the years, have won our hearts with their versatile roles. Be it ‘Tulsi’ from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi or ‘Jassi ‘from Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, all these characters ruled our prime-time TV slots and enjoyed a large fanbase. One such show that captivated the hearts of both children and adults was Shararat.
The show aired between 2003-2006 and featured well-known names like Farida Jalal, Shruti Seth, Shoma Anand, Aditi Malik, Harsh Vashisht and Karanvir Bohra. Another important character in the show was Simple Kaul, who played the role of ‘Pam’ (Parminder Sohni) and was often seen making the lead actress’ life a mess.

Simple has played important roles throughout her career and was one of the leading faces of the television industry. However, the actress has been absent from the screen for quite some time. She might have vanished from the glamour world but she is leading a very successful life as an entrepreneur. Let us look at Simple Kaul’s successful journey from a TV actress to an entrepreneur.
Born in Mumbai, Simple Kaul began her acting career in 2002 with Ekta Kapoor’s show, Kkusum. In 2003, she was seen in the cult comedy show, Shararat, in which she played the role of Parminder Sohni. In a career of over 20 years, Simple has worked in popular shows like Khichdi, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Saas Bina Sasural, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Oye Jassie, Bhakharwadi and many more.

Simple was last seen in the show, Ziddi Dil Maane Na, in which she played the character of ‘Koel Roy Siddiqui’. Apart from acting, Simple is a trained Hindustani classical singer. She used to sing at private gatherings and wished to pursue a career in singing.

Simple Kaul is not just a talented actress but a successful entrepreneur, too, who manages a chain of restaurants. It was in 2015 when Simple started a cafe called ‘The Homemade Cafe’ in Oshiwara, Mumbai, along with her friend, actress, Addite Malik. In an interview with Telly Chakkar, Simple talked about the same and said:
“I started in 2015 a cafe with my friends called ‘The Homemade Café’. I used to love creating beautiful spaces and beauty has always inspired me. I've always felt rejuvenated and peaceful being in beautiful cafes. That's why I wanted to start my own cafe, a place that would give people a piece of beauty, happiness & peace, a place that would have creative energy flowing, a place that elevates people’s mood through good food and music. “
Simple, along with her partners, started another restaurant, Que Sera Sera in Andheri West, which serves European dishes. Simple expanded her business by opening 1BHK Bar House Kitchen which has multiple outlets in Mumbai. Talking about her alternate career in an interview with The Tribune, Simple shared:
“I wanted to do something more than what I was already doing, something I was interested in and passionate about. After working for so many years, I felt that I wanted to have an alternate career, something that I enjoyed. I love interiors and am a people’s person and hosting people comes naturally to me. One day my friend Aditi Malik and I decided to open up a cafe.”

Along with her acting career, Simple is also balancing her chain of restaurants. The actress is perfectly managing both roles and gives credit to her business partners. Her chain of restaurants are successfully running in Oshiwara, Juhu, Vashi, Andheri and other parts of Mumbai. She recently opened a new branch of The Homemade Cafe in Bengaluru. As per a report in DNA, Simple Kaul has a whopping net worth of Rs. 25 crores.
Simple Kaul got married to businessman, Rahul Loomba in 2010, and the couple is in a long-distance marriage as Rahul travels a lot for his business. In an interview with The Times of India, Simple talked about balancing her husband and their marital life and shared:
“He spends a lot of time abroad. I miss him at times, but we have a great understanding and our bond is very strong. At the end of the day, it is all about compatibility and balancing your life. While he is away, I am also able to focus on my career, so it is a happy work-life balance for both of us.”
