Popular Telugu actor, Naga Chaitanya surprised his fans when reports of his engagement with actress, Sobhita Dhulipala went viral in the media. Eventually, on August 8, 2024, Chaitanya's father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to confirm his son's engagement. For the joyful occasion, Chaitanya and Sobhita's respective families had gathered together in Hyderabad.

Amid the celebrations, netizens recently pointed out that Naga Chaitanya's mother, Laxmi Daggubati's family, isn't following her son's now-fiancee, Sobhita Dhulipala, on social media. For the unversed, Chaitanya is related to acclaimed South Indian actors, Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati. Meanwhile, the latter's sister, Malavika Potluri Daggubati, and cousin, Aashritha Daggubati, also don't follow Sobhita on Instagram.

A Redditor shared a post titled 'Not a single member of the Daggubati family is following Sobhita' on the discussion platform, highlighting that no one from the Daggubati family follows Sobhita. The post also seemingly hinted at a possible rift between the Akkineni and Daggubati families due to Chaitanya's engagement.

The post, which was shared on the discussion platform, featured several screenshots that highlighted that the Daggubati family wasn't following Naga Chaitanya's fiancee, Sobhita, on social media while they follow his ex-wife, Samantha Ruth Prabhu. For the uninitiated, Chaitanya was previously married to Samantha from 2017 to 2021.

Meanwhile, some netizens pointed out that the Daggubati family missed wishing the couple, Chaitanya and Sobhita, on their engagement and were absent from the celebrations as well. A user wrote, "Yes, the entire Daggubati family who attended Sam and Chay's engagement and posted on social media completely skipped this engagement and didn't even congratulate on Instagram. Considering Chay and Rana are first cousins, that is something!"

When Nagarjuna announced Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala's engagement

On August 8, 2024, Nagarjuna took to his X (formerly Twitter) account and shared two ethereal glimpses of the newly engaged couple, Chaitanya and Sobhita. Sharing the post, he welcomed his to-be-bahu with his open arms in his family. Wishing them a life full of happiness, the overjoyed father wrote:

"We are delighted to announce the engagement of our son, Naga Chaitanya, to Sobhita Dhulipala, which took place this morning at 9:42 a.m.!! We are overjoyed to welcome her into our family. Congratulations to the happy couple! Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness. God bless! 8.8.8 A beginning of infinite love."

In the pictures from their engagement, Sobhita looked drop-dead gorgeous in a pink-hued silk saree from the shelves of Manish Malhotra. She paired the saree with a matching blouse and opted for sleek pieces of gold jewellery to complete her look. Meanwhile, her fiance, Chaitanya, wore an ivory-hued white kurta-pyjama and a matching doshala.
