Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s love story started on the sets of Umrao Jaan. But way before it, he was mesmerised by her beauty when he visited Switzerland for the recce of a film. Aishwarya Rai was shooting for her Bollywood debut film, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, at the same location as Abhishek’s best friend, Bobby Deol. Aishwarya and Abhishek met through Bobby, and he was smitten by her.
Eventually, Abhishek and Aishwarya became good friends and would bump into each other at social gatherings. However, while shooting for Dhoom 2, Umrao Jaan and Guru, the duo fell in love. In April 2007, Abhishek and Aishwarya got married, and there was a grand celebration. In 2011, the couple welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya.

However, the latest reports claim that everything is not well in Abhishek and Aishwarya’s paradise and that the couple is heading for divorce. There are rumours that Aishwarya and Aaradhya are already living separately from the Bachchans. Amid all the speculations, here is a throwback video of Aishwarya and Abhishek doing rounds on social media. The video in question is from 2009, when the couple appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
During one of the segments of the show, Abhishek and Aishwarya talked about their lavish wedding that took place at the Bachchan home in Juhu. They also talked about the wedding festivities and large crowds, highlighting the grandeur of Indian weddings. After hearing about the elaborate ceremonies, Oprah commented that it would be hard to get divorced after such grand celebrations. After hearing Oprah’s remark, Aishwarya Rai responded and said:
“We don’t even try and entertain the thought.”
Going forward in the conversation, Oprah asked the couple whether it is okay to live with one’s parents even after marriage. Abhishek reacted and asked Oprah, “Do you live with your family? How does that work?” Aishwarya supported Abhishek’s statement and said that living with their family is completely normal for them.

Abhishek also highlighted how his father, Amitabh Bachchan, lived with his parents, and the same tradition is followed. When Oprah asked the couple whether they share meals together, Abhishek stated that his mother, Jaya Bachchan, has made a rule that if every family member is in the city, they must have one meal together every day.
In the same interview with Oprah, Abhishek also recalled his proposal story. The handsome actor revealed that he was standing on the balcony of his hotel room in New York when a whimsical thought of marrying Aishwarya on that very balcony crossed his mind. Elaborating on the same, he shared:
“I was filming in New York for a movie, and I used to stand on my balcony of my hotel room and wish that one day wouldn't it be nice if I was together with Aishwarya, married? So I took her to the very same balcony, and I asked her to marry me.”
In an old interview with Hindustan Times, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recalled the moment when she finally realised that she was married. The actress revealed that she and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, jetted off to Bora Bora for their honeymoon. During the flight, a stewardess addressed Aishwarya as Mrs Bachchan and left her surprised. Recalling the incident, Aishwarya had said:
“It was on the flight to our honeymoon in Bora Bora. The stewardess welcomed me on-board saying, ‘Welcome, Mrs Bachchan.’ And Abhishek and I just looked at each other and burst out laughing! And it hit me, I’m married! I’m Mrs Bachchan!”
