Aishwarya has never given in to societal norms or leading trends. Moreover, not many know that the actress was even against the idea of joining social media, and it was only due to her well-wishers that she chose to make her Instagram debut.
Recently, we stumbled upon a video of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wherein she talked about her opinion on social media. In the video, the actress shared that social media has started a rat race, wherein everyone wants to share everything about their lives. Sharing the reason behind her reluctance to join social media, Aishwarya said:

"I didn't want to join any kind of social media for the longest time, especially when it began, because I felt it was such a rat race, and everybody was kind of getting into it with some kind of like barometer of popularity. And everybody wants to put everything out and put out your opinions, your thoughts, and it's just the constant energy train."

Speaking along the same lines, Aishwarya shared that she has some well-wishers who enjoy the opportunity to connect with her. So, she decided to join Instagram and started making slow and steady progress in sharing snippets of her life with her followers. She was heard saying:
"And at the same time, I had some well-wishers from the world over saying that they really felt that they need and enjoyed the connect so they would be creating these sites and think I just finally gave in just to Instagram because it's easier beginning so let's see how it goes, it's going to be extremely slow, hopefully steady. So, let's see how we go with it."

In an interview with SpotboyE, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan talked about how she and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, deal with trolls. She shared that Abhishek does whatever he feels like doing without worrying about others. Aishwarya added that there have been instances where he has been silent for years, and once in a while, he decides to engage. Sharing that she has no time for trolls, Aishwarya stated that she finds the approach of self-confidence, self-esteem and finding strength in her capabilities liberating. So, she tries to be positive all the time.
