Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding invited a lot of speculative theories. Well, at that time, it was widely speculated that Aishwarya was a maanglik, and so in order to ward off anything inauspicious for the couple, she was first married to a tree. While none of them ever spoke anything about it, years later, Amitabh Bachchan addressed this as a piece of rumour and rubbished it all.

It was during the shooting of Dhoom 2 when Abhishek and Aishwarya developed feelings for each other. After the premiere of the film, Guru in Toronto, Abhishek Bachchan proposed to Aishwarya Rai in New York, and she immediately accepted his proposal.
