After the dreamy proposal on March 24, 2018, in Goa, Akash Ambani and his childhood sweetheart, Shloka Mehta had a grand celebration and a star-studded bash in Mumbai to mark the special moment. And amidst waiting for the much-awaited big fat wedding of the lovebirds, Ambanis and Mehtas announced a formal engagement for the much-in-love couple, Shloka and Akash. Trust us when we say Ambanis do everything in style, and when it is about their beloved son, everything has to be extra special. While everyone thought Akash and Shloka’s engagement celebrations were over and all their fans were looking forward to their wedding in December, a ‘Save The Date’ video was released to announce their formal engagement ceremony.
The ‘Save The Date’ invitation video is set to the tune of Shubhaarambh from the film, Kai Po Che and for the design, traditional motifs and an incantation that includes the couple's first names were used. The 'Save the Date' invites are being sent by parents of Akash and Shloka, Nita and Mukesh Ambani and Mona and Russell Mehta to all their close friends and family. Apart from the ‘Save The Date’ invitation video, an invitation card is also being sent to the guests. India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist, Nita Ambani’s eldest son, Akash Ambani will formally exchange rings with his lady-love, Shloka Mehta. The formal engagement will take place at Ambanis' Altamount Road residence, Antilia on June 30, 2018. Post this engagement ceremony, Shloka and Akash will get married in December 2018. In an interview with a leading media portal, Nita Ambani talked about her son, Akash Ambani’s engagement with Shloka Mehta. She was quoted as saying, “I have known Shloka since she was four and we are all delighted to welcome her to our home and our hearts.” Also, a source close to the Ambani family told the media, “Shloka is a very charming girl, extremely cultured and it’s difficult to say which of the two families is lucky with this upcoming marriage.” (Also Read: Nita Ambani And Isha Ambani Welcomed Shloka Mehta Into The Ambani Family In A Special Manner)
Shloka Mehta and Akash Ambani’s pre-engagement star-studded bash took place on March 26, 2018, at their home, Antilia. Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, John Abraham, Rajkumar Hirani, Zaheer Khan, Sagarika Ghatge, Harbhajan Singh, Kiran Rao amongst many others marked their presence to bless the couple and make their special day even more special. In an interview earlier, Akash talked about his childhood love, Shloka, and stated, “I am truly happy that our friendship has blossomed into love and Shloka and I are getting married, she is a truly special and extremely kind-hearted person." And the soon-to-be Ambani bahu gushed about her hubby-to-be Akash and was quoted as saying, “Despite years and busy schedules, we have always found ways to stay connected. Akash is incredibly grounded, and we share a bond based on meaning and memories. We don't just get along - we also support each other's hopes and aspirations and are determined to build a sense of purpose into our lives together. We are lucky to have a love that began with being best friends and luckier still to have such supportive families." For the uninitiated ones, Akash Ambani’s fiancée, Shloka Mehta is the daughter of Russell Mehta (a diamond doyen who owns Rosy Blue) and Mona Mehta. Shloka is also the director of Rosy Blue Foundation since 2014 and in 2015, she became the co-founder of ConnectFor, her brainchild which gathers volunteers for various NGOs running in Mumbai.
