Akshay Kumar is widely regarded as one of the finest actors in Hindi cinema. With a career spanning over three decades, the 56-year-old has helmed some of the blockbuster hits of all time. Up next, Akshay will be seen in Sarfira, which is the Hindi remake of the Tamil biopic film, Soorarai Pottru. During an interview, the actor shared the story behind a particular scene from the film.

Akshay Kumar reveals he did not use glycerin to cry

While conversing with Galatta Plus, the host inquired about the toughest thing that Akshay had to crack on the sets of his upcoming film, Sarfira. He revealed that while filming the scene where his on-screen character’s father died, he was really crying. Akshay said that he could relate to the trauma as he had felt the same when his father passed away. Sharing that he didn’t use glycerin to cry, the actor said:

“There are many things in the film which I could relate to. This character lost his father, the trauma he went through… When that scene was happening, to be honest, I went into that kind of trauma when I lost my father. I don’t use glycerin to cry, I use my own emotions to cry. When you see the film, I’m really crying.”

Akshay Kumar talks about the special request he made to his director

Furthermore, the 56-year-old actor shared that he would still remain in the character even after the director would say cut. He mentioned that he would hang his head down while still crying, as it wasn’t easy to come out of that emotion. Revealing that he had asked the director of Sarfira, Sudha Kongara Prasad, to take longer shots, Akshay Kumar added:

“There were times when Sudha would say ‘cut’, and my head was still down, because I was still crying because it isn’t easy to come out of that emotion. I’ve gone far away. I know in the back of my mind that she’s called cut, but it’s very difficult to bring it back (to reality). I used to request her to take longer shots, because then, I’m staying with the same emotion.”

Akshay Kumar discloses that he initially faced challenges while shooting for Sarfira

Akshay also disclosed that it took him some time to adjust to Sarfira’s director's filming style. He recalled that initially, he faced a lot of difficulties while filming the same emotional sequence from various angles. Afterward, he requested Sudha to shoot with multiple cameras at the same time to ease the process. The actor mentioned that Sarfira’s director was kind enough to comply to his requests.
