Akshay Kumar's First Actress, Shanthi Priya Reveals He Ignored And Told Her 'She Can't Play Heroine'

Akshay Kumar's first heroine, Shanthi Priya, who had shared the screen space with him in the 1991 film, Saugandh, shared a bitter revelation about him. The actress talked about he told her that she can't play a heroine after marriage. For the unversed, Shanthi Priya had featured in over thirty films during her acting journey. However, she took a sabbatical after her wedding to focus on her family.

Shanthi Priya revealed Akshay Kumar told her she cannot play the heroine

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Shanthi Priya revealed that she has asked for work from Akshay Kumar. However, Akshay ghosted her and and never replied to the numerous messages she had sent to him. She called the incident heartbreaking. Shanthi Priya also shared an anecdote on how she met him on the sets of his film, Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty.

Shanthi Priya revealed that he met her nicely and when she expressed her desire to work in films, he made a strange remark. Akshay told her that while she still looks the same, she cannot play a heroine in a film. The actress was quoted as saying:

"When I met him on the Holiday set, he was the same Akshay. I told him that I want to come back, he asked me how I was doing, how my kids were doing. We had a nice half-hour conversation during his lunch break. He introduced me to Sonakshi, and told her that I was his first heroine. So, I told him I was planning to come back, and to let me know if there’s any good thing…” She said that Akshay told her that she still ‘looks the same’, but also gave her a reality check, and told her, “You know you can’t play a heroine, right?"

Shanthi further expressed that Akshay Kumar told her that women in the industry are not treated the same way after they get married. He also asked her why she wasn't trying to work in the South. To which, Shanthi told him that she is based in Mumbai and her kids are there as well.
