Alia Bhatt, one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood, needs no introduction. The diva debuted in Bollywood with the movie, Student Of The Year. Since then, there has been no looking back for the actress. Alia recently made her debut in Hollywood, and there's no denying the fact that she has been rising high in her professional career. Alia enjoys a massive fanbase, and her fans never shy away from showering the actress with love. However, a certain section of the audience tags her as a nepo kid and points out that her opportunities are the result of privileges. However, Alia recently opened up about the same.
Alia Bhatt, daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, established her place in the Hindi film industry with her determination and hard work. However, the comments about being a privileged child initially disturbed the actress. In a recent interview with InStyle Australia, Alia shared that she used to get defensive about such comments initially, but later, with time, she got to understand that there's a lot of struggle in the world, and thus, she started acknowledging that she had an easier path to get into the room. Elaborating more on the same, Alia mentioned:
"My initial response to it was very defensive because I just felt like, you know, I work hard, so why the question? But I think with time and with age, you realise that there’s a lot of struggle in the world and there is a case to be made in acknowledging the headstart and acknowledging I had an easier path to get into the room."

In the same interview, Alia Bhatt shared that although she was aware that her family was into films, she felt that natural inclination towards the world of acting from the beginning. Alia further mentioned that her mom, Soni Razdan, struggled as an actress, and she never felt that she got her acting break just because she was married to a producer and director. Alia mentioned:
"So I naturally was also more inclined towards it, but it’s not like my father ever spoke to me like, ‘Oh, the day you want to act, we will give you this movie.’ He never brought that up. Never. And, in fact, my mum struggled as an actor. Not many people know this. She was always looking for more work as an actor, she doesn’t feel like she got her acting due, and this is being married to a director and producer.”
In an interview with Vogue India, Alia Bhatt talked about the nepo kid tag, which she often has to face. The actress shared that she had to work hard constantly to prove her place in the industry despite coming from a family with filmy background. The actress further added that one could come from a background that props one up, but the audience would ultimately be the judge.

Back in 2022, while talking to Mid-Day, Alia Bhatt shared that she felt terrible hearing such mean comments. The actress further added that she decided to keep mum and continue working hard. As a result, she could deliver an award-winning movie like Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia also shared that she couldn't defend herself verbally, and thus, she proved her worth with her movies. She further added that she couldn't control where she was born and what her parents had been doing.
