Alia Bhatt is currently busy promoting her upcoming film, Jigra, which is slated to be released in theatres on October 11, 2024. The film is directed by Vasan Bala, who has previously directed movies like Peddlers, Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota, and Monica, O My Darling. Jigra's official trailer was launched in September, and since then, the buzz has kept rising with each day's passing. Jigra's song, Chal Kudiye, sung by Diljit Dosanjh, has taken the anticipation around Alia's action prison drama to an entirely different level.
Vedang Raina, who made his acting debut in Bollywood with The Archies, and Alia Bhatt are the lead actors in the film, Jigra. The duo is going to essay their roles as siblings. Amidst the promotions, Alia sat down for a candid conversation with Jigra's producer, Karan Johar and her RRR co-star, Jr NTR, who is also promoting his upcoming film, Devara: Part One. During the conversation, Alia opened up about her decision to work in Jigra right after giving birth to her daughter, Raha Kapoor. The stunning actress termed it as a work of fate.
Explaining the reason behind it, Alia Bhatt shared that she was in her tigress mood soon after giving birth to her firstborn, Raha. She admitted she was in her 'most protective mode' when Jigra's script came to her. Talking about her character, 'Satya', in the film, she shared how her character demanded exactly the same emotions she was going through at the time in real life. For the uninitiated, Alia Bhatt is playing the role of an elder sister in Jigra, who is doing everything in her prowess to save her onscreen brother, 'Ankur', played by Vedang Raina. Opening up about the same, she said:
"When I signed Jigra I think I was in my tigress mode. I was in my most protective- like, 'No one come near her,' mode. That was the energy. That is why I always say destiny, luck, life has so much to play in things going a certain way. Forget the fate of Jigra, the fact that it came to me also was… wow what is this timing! That I am feeling this way and it came. It had all of those things laced over it."
Further, in the same conversation with Karan Johar and Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt opened up about the changes she experienced in herself after the birth of her daughter, Raha Kapoor. The actress clearly said she's not the same person because Raha's entry in her life has transformed her into a better version of herself. Sharing more light on the same, Alia added now that she has Raha in her life, all the focus is on her. The doting mother also admitted that there's always a chance that an actor gets self-obsessed, but she no longer takes herself too seriously due to Raha's presence in her life. She said:
"I don't think I am the same person. Life has so much more meaning and I think like actors can get really self-obsessed if they are constantly thinking about themselves… Now when there is another being in your life suddenly it is like Alia who? It is Raha, Raha, Raha! Alia comes in and out! The focus is on her and nurturing and my mind always being there is something that will never change now."
During the same interaction with Karan Johar and Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt also praised Vedang Raina, who is playing her onscreen brother in Jigra. The actress admitted that Vedang is highly professional and never misses an opportunity to give his best shot. While calling him a 'hardworking person', Alia shared that Vedang's dedication reminded her a lot of Ranveer Singh. Alia also added that Vedang is deep-rooted and centered, due to which he has a lot of depth in his soul that will surely take him far in his acting career in Bollywood. Well, we cannot wait to watch Alia and Vedang's work in Jigra, which appears to be a perfect family entertainer.
