Alia Bhatt On Feeling Mom's Guilt After Leaving 4-Month-Old Raha Home, Says 'Can't Sit And Complain'

Bollywood actress, Alia Bhatt and her hubby, Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their first child, Raha Kapoor, in November 2022. Since then, the talented actress has been enjoying an ecstatic phase of motherhood with her newborn, Raha Kapoor, who is almost 4 months old now. Alia has been perfectly managing her personal as well as professional life while inspiring everyone at the young age of 30 and how.

Alia Bhatt reflects on her challenging motherhood journey

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Alia Bhatt opened up about her motherhood journey and revealed how it changed her. The actress shared how she continues to multi-task while maintaining a work-life balance in her life and mentioned that life is tough for everyone so she can't sit and complain. Revealing how her baby girl, Raha gives her the energy to cope with things, the new mommy said:

"Yes, I have a lot of clutter in my mind, and I like being on top of things. But as far as the mother thing goes, it is a new experience, and anything new can be challenging. But when I have low energy, just one look at my baby and I have 1000-watt energy. I chose to be an actor, a producer, an entrepreneur and a mother. So I can’t sit and complain and be like ‘life is very hard’. But life is tough for everyone, life is not always going to be a smooth path. You just have to keep moving, but a good night’s sleep is always the way to recuperate for me.”

Alia Bhatt on experiencing mother's guilt about leaving her daughter, Raha at home

Further in the conversation, when Alia was asked if she experiences a mother's guilt about leaving her baby girl, Raha at home to fulfill her work commitments, the doing mommy gave an affirmative answer. Talking about the same, the actress mentioned the importance of taking maternity leave and added:

"It is a very regular feeling, and you just need to tell yourself that you are doing your best. And of course, I think all the big corporations/companies should give mothers their maternity leave. It’s something that I would like to say loudly.”

Alia Bhatt advises new mommies to take a break and look after their mental health

Reflecting on her motherhood journey, Alia stated that it is necessary for new mommies to take a break and look after their mental health, as it would help both the mother and her child in the long run. Sharing how she manages to take a break every now and then, Alia added:

"I had very understanding producers for example, who gave me the exact amount of time that I wanted off. It is very important to also understand and take care of your own mental health and your own whatever makes you happy, will also keep your baby happy. So whether it's taking that walk or taking that time off, or finding that person to be like 'listen, have a look at the baby for some time' you know."

Alia Bhatt on Ranbir Kapoor and her family being her support systems

Citing her own example, Alia Bhatt said that her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, and her family are supporting her unconditionally in this new journey of motherhood. Talking about the same, she revealed that her loved ones constantly checked in on her, always assuring her that she was doing the best job possible. Alia concluded:

"What really helped me was my support system you know - my husband, my sister Shaheen, my mom, my family, who were constantly checking on me, constantly making me feel like I'm doing the best job possible. And it is a journey that is just beginning. It's just begun, and there is so much to sort of explore now. But yeah, possibly the best journey I have been on, in my life."

On the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in the film, Brahmastra: Part One–Shiva, alongside her hubby, Ranbir Kapoor, which was released on September 9, 2022.
