Alia Bhatt is one of the biggest names in Hindi film industry. The actress, who debuted with Karan Johar's 2012 teen drama, Student Of The Year, has impressed the audience with her versatile on-screen performances. With her acting stints in films like Raazi, Dear Zindagi, Gully Boy, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Highway, Alia has proved that she is a force to be reckoned with. But all the fame comes at a price.
Recently, a Redditor took to the discussion platform to share an old interview of Alia Bhatt from the time when she was promoting Gangubai Kathiawadi. In the clip, the actress discussed the biggest misconception about her with India Today. She revealed that people often think that she got all her films presented to her on a silver platter and that they come to her because she asked for it. Alia was quoted as saying:
"I think the biggest misconception is that I have been given all my movies just placed and presented to me on a silver platter and they come to me because I ask for it. I think that is one big misconception which I don’t agree with."
Further, Alia highlighted the importance of hard work in the industry and shared that a person won't even survive 17 minutes in the acting field if they don't work hard. She further talked about the sleepless nights and rigorous work she had done to survive in the industry for so long. Sharing that people still need to work hard even if they are supremely talented, Alia said:
"I know the amount of sleepless nights that I have had, I know the amount of cuts and bruises and aches and pains that I have had working. I have given my blood, sweat, tears to the process of filmmaking throughout my career and it has been 10 years. I don’t believe it is possible to survive 10 years in any industry if you are not hardworking. You can be talented, but if you are not hardworking, there is no survival."
Soon, other Redditors started posting screenshots of news pieces mentioning that Alia received help from several people in the industry to bag roles. One user wrote, "True that, it was not a silver platter, maybe a gold one." Another penned, "These people have absolutely zero self-awareness." Meanwhile, a third netizen said, "Working hard in a movie is totally different than working hard to get a movie."

Alia Bhatt, the daughter of eminent filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt and actress, Soni Razdan, had earlier opened up about star kids getting access to the film industry. In an interview with the Bombay Times, she defended star kids and added that it's a person's own journey, and there's no such privilege available for star kids. She was quoted as saying:
"It is always your own journey, irrespective of the family you come from. I don't think your mum, dad, father or chachu can change that or mend that for you. So, I want to punch all those people who say that star kids have it easy because it makes no sense. The way the world is today, either you have it or you don't."
In another interview with the Mid-Day, Alia shared that she felt terrible hearing mean comments about her being a 'nepo kid'. The actress further added that she decided to keep mum and continue working hard. Alia also shared that she couldn't defend herself verbally, and thus, she proved her worth with her movies. The actress further added that she couldn't control where she was born and what her parents had been doing.
Apart from her professional life, Alia's personal life garners attention in the media. In 2022, the actress tied the knot with Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor's son, Ranbir Kapoor. In November of the same year, the couple welcomed the apple of their eye, Raha Kapoor. At present, the latter is one of the most loved star kids in Tinseltown.
