Lately, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s relationship has been the talk of the town. Though a celebrity destination wedding could have saved them from the unnecessary media attention, the couple had tied the knot in their Vastu house. Needless to say, Alia and Ranbir’s wedding ceremony, which was held on April 14, 2022, seemed nothing short of a state secret. Again, on June 27, 2022, the actress pleasantly surprised her fans by announcing her ‘good news’.
Now, in a recent media interaction, Alia spilt the beans on whether she would change her surname from Bhatt to Kapoor after embracing motherhood. The actress also shared why she did not make an official announcement about her and Ranbir’s wedding.

In a candid conversation with the Mid-Day, Alia Bhatt was asked if she would change her surname from Bhatt to Kapoor. Answering this, the would-be-mommy revealed that she would change her title to 'Bhatt Kapoor' because she does not want to feel left out after the birth of her kids. In her words:
“We are going to have a child now. I don’t want to be the Bhatt, whilst the Kapoors are travelling together; you know what I mean? I don’t want to feel left out.”
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding in their Vastu home in Mumbai had gathered unnecessary media attention nationwide. In the interview, when Alia was asked about the reason behind keeping her wedding date a secret, she said:
“Par mere ko announce nahin karna hai. Kyunki yeh public event nahin hai. Speculation was also that there are 25 vegan counters [at the wedding]. I said I didn’t even have 25 guests. What am I going to get 25 vegan counters for? And I have got a lovely but a basic house. You speculate what the hell you want, it is fine, entertaining. I don’t care. I didn’t want to confirm it. Because you have to understand, I live in a residential building. It was anyway a nightmare [for the neighbours] — poor things, we sent them all hampers…”

We still remember how shutterbugs were stationed outside Alia and Ranbir’s Vastu residence for days in April 2022, hoping to get a glimpse of the bride and groom. Moreover, the hype of their marriage was so much so that it resulted in clogged roads and traffic on Pali Hills. Reacting to it, in the same interaction, Alia apologised with her folded hands and said:
“Yes, haath jodke unse maafi maangti hoon, but we made enough preparation. I wanted to get married at my house, where Ranbir and I have lived together for the past many years since our relationship began. It was perfect, comfortable — I got to interact with everybody, because there were only 40 people. We aren’t the big, celebratory kinda people.”
We are eagerly waiting for Alia Bhatt to add Kapoor to her surname. What about you?
