Pooja Bhatt entered Bollywood in an era when the nepotism debate was decades away, and it was obvious for star kids to follow in their parent's footsteps and become actors. Given that her daddy, Mahesh Bhatt was one of the greatest filmmakers of his generation, he did not shy away from launching his then-17-year-old daughter, Pooja, in the niche film, Daddy (1989). After that, Pooja became the most loved actress in Tinseltown.
She has been known for her bold and fierce nature. However, once the actress spiked a controversy by posing for a lip-lock moment with her dad, Mahesh Bhatt while sitting on his lap for a magazine cover. Since then, many rumours speculated that Pooja might have married Mahesh as in an infamous interview, the director had expressed his desire to marry his own daughter.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Pooja Bhatt was asked about her fight with the nepotism tag in Bollywood. Answering that, the actress talked about her comeback to the silver screen after 22 years of a gap with the film, Sadak 2. She revealed how the film got brutally trolled because of the ongoing nepotism debate but her dad, Mahesh Bhatt earned more money from Sadak 2 than from his last 20 movies. In her words:
"Mahesh had made more money on Sarak 2 than he has made in his last 20 movies, and I can assure you that's all he cares about. I'm not saying we care about that, but he is a different kind of an animal, my father is a different kind of person. But the point is we get targeted, and I would never wish this on somebody else. We have the capacity to absorb it, and I'm not going to say why me and why not you."
In the same conversation, Pooja Bhatt recalled her tough fight with the nepotism tag in the industry and said that she had suicidal thoughts. She further wished nobody goes through the same trauma.
