Ameesha Patel rose to instant success with her first film, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, opposite Hrithik Roshan and directed by Rakesh Roshan. The fans went gaga in 2000 when the movie was released, and they would come dressed up as 'Sonia' and 'Rohit' wherever Hrithik and Ameesha went. The film is all set to re-release on January 10, 2025. Before the re-release, Ameesha revealed crazy fan encounters.

Ameesha Patel talked about receiving love letters written with blood

Recently, in an interview with News24, Ameesha revealed that after the success of her first film, everyone went crazy, and they would go all out to demonstrate their love for the on-screen couple. Ameesha revealed that she and Hrithik both started receiving marriage proposals from fans.

Ameesha further revealed that the fans would marry their pictures in temples. Not only this, Ameesha even received letters written in blood. She called it extremely scary. Some people stalked them and followed them everywhere. Ameesha revealed that during those days, they didn't have the culture of keeping a lot of bodyguards. She said:

"Both Hrithik and I received marriage proposals from fans. They would marry our pictures in temples. I got letters written in blood, professing their love. It was very scary. I had stalkers… people following us. There was no culture of having plenty of bodyguards back then. It all came much later. Before we knew it, we had a whole entourage with us."

Ameesha revealed she wasn't able to go to restaurants and salons

Ameesha revealed that the overnight success of her first film left her in a weird place as she was habitual of walking alone. She wasn't used to people coming to her and asking for autographs and pictures. People were dying to touch them. She shared:

"It was weird at first because we were habitual of just walking alone wherever and whenever. But now we needed to be shielded, protected. We needed to get used to people coming to us, wanting our autographs and pictures. People were dying to just touch us to feel that we were real. They catapulted us to a god-like status, and it’s difficult to digest even today. "

Ameesha Patel revealed girls would come dressed up as her character, 'Sonia Saxena' in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai 

Further, Ameesha revealed that in those days, people would make reels in reality. They would come dressed up as her character 'Sonia Saxena'. They would wear the same pink skirt and white top, which she wore in one of the island scene. She said:

"Of course, that was not the time when people would make reels. There was no social media back then. But everywhere Hrithik and I went, independently or together, girls were dressed as Sonia, wearing that pink skirt and white top I wore on the island. Men would wear Hrithik’s black transparent ganji from Ek Pal Ka Jeena with the bandanna. And that word ‘raptaa’ became so famous that everyone would ask us to enact it for them. They were so fascinated by it, as they had never heard it before. That hook step of Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai is still so popular today. It feels great."
