Shabana Azmi has been hitting almost all the headlines ever since she shared a passionate kiss with her co-star, Dharmendra in the recently-released film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. While the phenomenal actors were completely okay about doing such a scene, and have repeatedly shared their point of view, it was the massive audience who did not like the fact that such senior actors would do a kissing scene in a film. As a result, both of them faced a lot of backlash and criticism for the same. And now, Shabana’s unmissable throwback picture is adding to the buzz.
Taking to her IG handle on August 10, 2023, Shabana Azmi dropped a vintage photograph of herself and Dharmendra. The picture dates back to 1988, when the duo came together for the film, Mardon Wali Baat. In the picture, Shabana can be seen looking pretty in an orange-hued saree, whereas Dharmendra looked handsome in a black-hued vest, teamed with a sap green jacket. Along with it, Shabana penned a caption, where she took a hint at the duo’s comeback on the screen together for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. In her words:

In one of her interviews with Zoom Digital, Shabana Azmi had opened up about the buzz regarding her kissing scene with Dharmendra in the film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She mentioned how it was never in her thoughts that such a small scene could create so much fuss in the media. Moreover, she shared that shooting the scene was not much of an issue, and that she enjoyed doing such a scene with someone as handsome as Dharmendra.
In the same interview, Shabana was also asked to share the reaction of her husband, Javed Akhtar seeing her on-screen kiss. To this, she mentioned that the latter had no problems with it, and hilariously added how he, on the contrary, disliked the way she showed her over-excitement while attending the premiere of the film.

On August 3, 2023, Dharmendra attended the press conference for the film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and also spoke about the bizarre kind of reactions that he was getting due to his kissing scene in the movie. Taking a dig at the same, he mentioned:
“Message aa rahe hai ki Dharam ji apne aesa aesa kar diya. Yeh to mere daayein haath ka khel hai."
