Actor Amit Tandon has faced many ups and downs in his professional as well as personal life. The actor, who rose to fame with Indian Idol in 2004, had later bagged shows like Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai, Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki. The handsome actor got married to Ruby, a dermatologist, in 2007, but their married life hit rock bottom in 2017.
Amit and Ruby's marriage had gone through a rough patch in 2017, and the estranged couple started living separately. Soon after, Amit had announced their separation citing compatibility issues. But when Ruby got arrested in Dubai for threatening some government officials as per DHA (Dubai Health Authority) officials, Amit was the first one to help her rescue.

In an interview with The Times of India, Amit talked about his marriage with Ruby and the troubles they faced. Revealing what went wrong in their marriage, Amit said, "We knew something was amiss. Neither of us was happy and we even discussed it. We stopped making efforts to save our marriage. What we don’t realise is that separation and divorce don’t just affect you, but also your child and your respective families and friends. To be honest, I tasted success at a young age and felt invincible (smiles!). I felt that I could do anything. I have made mistakes… I have done things I am not proud of."
Amit further shared that he married quite early and realised the importance of marriage quite late in his life. In his words, "Looking back, I feel all those mistakes were taking my wife away from me. Ruby came to me with complete love… she had left everything to be with me. I won’t say I didn’t value it, but I feel that we got married at an early age. I got married at 27. I wasn’t mature then. The maturity set in six years later when I started to realise the importance of family, especially after the birth of my child. Par ek baar do logo ke beech mein daraar aa jaye and if you don’t fix it, the situation goes out of hand. So, though we were together, the gap had started widening. We stopped making efforts to save our marriage."

Amit also revealed the reason for patching up with his wife and stated, "When Ruby and I decided to file for a divorce, a lot of things had happened between us. But a bigger incident occurred in 2017 (her arrest in Dubai), which renewed our perspective towards life. There was a time when she was emotionally broken. Some people, who claimed to be our best friends, abandoned us. But everything changed between us when she saw me standing by her as family. We also realised that humne bohot zyada ehmiyat unn doston ko dee jinhone hamaare beech ke issues and fights ko instigate kiya rather than help us resolve them. You tend to get influenced by people around you and that’s what caused the rift between us."
