Amitabh Bachchan, the legend of our era, is a person of strong values and beliefs. In the '80s and '90s, daughters were considered 'paraya dhan'. Amitabh believed in equality. In fact, he cheered the loudest whenever his daughter Shweta Bachchan achieved a new milestone. From her journey as a writer to a fashion designer, Amitabh had vocally expressed his love for his daughter, Shweta.
In a 2011 interview, Amitabh talked about distributing his wealth among his children equally. He was adamant about dividing his properties between his children, Shweta and Abhishek, after his death. The superstar also revealed that it was a decision made years ago.
Amitabh shared that he doesn't want to differentiate between his children when talking about his decision. He added that in a world where a woman is called paraya dhan, he wants to give equal rights to his daughter as his son. He was quoted as saying:
"I had decided on one thing: that I would not differentiate between them. When I die, whatever little I have will be equally divided between my daughter and my son — there is no differentiation. Jaya and I decided on that long time back. Everybody says that the girl is paraya dhan, she goes to her husband’s house, but in my eyes she is our daughter, she has the same rights Abhishek has."
In the same interview, Amitabh revealed that he had decided that if he got blessed with a son, he would be his best friend, the moment he started wearing his shoes. Amitabh further shared that he treats his son, Abhishek as his friend. While he gives advices like a father, they talk like friends. He said:
"I had decided much before Abhishek was born that if I had a son he would be my friend rather than a son, and the day he started wearing my shoes, he became my friend. So now I treat him as a friend. I very rarely look upon him as a son. I am concerned about him as a father, I would look after him as a father, I would advice him as a father, but when I talk to him, we talk as friends."
While Amitabh Bachchan has several properties in Mumbai, his first home, Pratiksha, remains close to his heart. Last year, he made a significant move by gifting his first-ever home, Pratiksha, to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan. According to a report first published by the Economic Times, the transfer of ownership was formalised through two distinct gift deeds, each corresponding to a specific plot on which the bungalow stands.

Earlier, he would divide his time between Jalsa and Pratiksha, where his parents lived. The source also shared that the decision to gift Bachchan's first home to his first daughter, Shweta was made a long ago and the paperwork was just formality.
