A happy marriage is not about finding the 'perfect' person, rather it is about finding someone, who is 'perfect' just for you. The moment you tie the knot with your 'better-half', everything changes. From celebrating each other's victories to supporting each other's failure, two souls bond together and becomes a strong pillar. They love each other, even on the days when they are not so lovable and that's what makes their marriage a 'happily ever after'. And a perfect example of it is Bollywood couple, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. (Recommend Read: Jay Bhanushali Reveals How Daughter, Tara Has Changed Mahhi And Him From GF-BF To Mother-Father)
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan had gotten married on June 3, 1973. Their love story had started when Jaya had first seen the six-feet-tall, Amitabh ji at Pune Film Institute. But it wasn't just a simple crush that would have passed away, but rather the destiny was writing the biggest love story of all time. And soon their paths had crossed again on the sets of film, Guddi (1971), wherein, Jaya felt the first brush of love. And while Jaya was already in love, Amitabh didn't saw her the same way until they had worked again in the film, Ek Nazar (1972). And rest as, we say, is history!
Jaya Bachchan has been a strong pillar of support for Amitabh Bachchan. Recently, we stumbled upon a throwback interview of Amitabh Bachchan with the Friday magazine from the year 2015, wherein he had opened up on his relationship with his 'darling wife', Jaya. The superstar had stated, "As busy as we get, we need to be reminded that we – my wife Jaya and I – are still sweethearts. In that sense, it makes me stop and realise how wonderful she makes me feel." (Also Read: Ajay Devgn To Celebrate Son, Yug's 10th Birthday Like This In The Absence Of Kajol And Nysa)
In the same interview, Amitabh ji had shared that Jaya ji understands him more than anyone else, "In any marriage, there are ups and downs and areas where disagreements take place but that’s all part of it. Jaya is extremely open and very straight. Sometimes embarrassingly straight but that’s how her nature is. I’ve never tried to disturb that quality of hers and she’s not disturbed my quality of being myself. When I want to be left alone, she leaves me alone." Amitabh ji had also opened up love and how it has changed over the years, "Ah, love! It hasn’t changed over the 41 plus years I have spent with Jaya. No! Nothing’s changed. Because it manifests itself into family, children, grandchildren."
Amitabh ji, who likes journaling, had shared once in his blog that his father, late Harivansh Rai Bachchan had told him to get married if he wanted to go out on a holiday. He had written, "I lived on the 7th Road of this society in a rented house. The marriage had been decided among us, nothing to be exaggerated or celebrated with any aplomb. Just the two families and done. Off to London, my first trip ever and hers too. Zanjeer a success and a promise that if it did well we would all - a gang of our friends - would go on a holiday to London!"

He had further written, "Seeking or rather informing parents that we were a group of friends going to England, who all are going came the query from Babuji, names disclosed, Jaya is also going with you. You both are alone. Yes. If you have to go marry and go. Ok. Pandit and family informed. Next day all set, flight at night, marriage to finish before the flight. I dress up in formal marriage Indian, get into my car and want to drive to Malabar Hill where her friends lived and where the ceremony was to be done .. my driver Nagesh, pushes me out and insist he would drive me to the wedding. The substitute for the tradition horse. Off I went, wedding over in a few hours. Done, Mr and Mrs proclaimed. over!"
