Life is all about cherishing each and every moment spent with your loved ones because at the end, it is not the years that count, it is the memories you have created. What matters is the life you have created in those years, the bond you have made in those years. An epitome of women's empowerment, Ritu Nanda proved that gender is just a category when she had decided to step into the male-dominated world of insurance. While people always questioned her credibility and laughed at her face for becoming an insurance agent, she proved them wrong and carved an identity of her own. On January 14, 2020, the nation had woken up to the sad news of Ritu Nanda’s death. Sister of Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, Ritu Nanda had taken her last breath after a 6-years long struggle with cancer. Ritu was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, post which she had headed off to the US for the treatment. Ritu Nanda’s niece and Rishi Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had taken to her Instagram handle and had posted an emotional note for her bua. She had written, “To the kindest most gentle person I‘ve ever met - They don’t make them like you anymore - RIP bua #missyoualways."
On January 14, 2020, Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog and penned down an emotional note for his contemporary and dear friend, Ritu Nanda. Taking a trip down the memory lane, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “that silent knock at the work place... the hurried expression of worried concern... the hours that sleep in most parts of the World that seek the midnight... shuffled steps, soft anxious and disturbed conversations... and then within a blink... the lights go out... she has gone... distance and absence accentuates the grief... feel of loss, concern for those by the side, and the need to be in the embrace of them that see and suffer in the exact... such are the incomprehensible moments that the day in the day of lives throws at us.”
Amit ji recalled the happy moments spent with her and went on, “polite conversation, of reminisce, of association, of happy times spent together, of the fight and struggle for the ailment for years... and most of all the loneliness of them that are left behind... the vacuum... the emptiness .. the presence that filled up the entire home... lost and gone... that empty favourite chair... that corner of preference... the unstinted care and concern for all when present, now suddenly not in existence…the voice of the bird that built her little nest, heard no more... the delicate nest shedding its strains of the making... the command the control the authority, suddenly absent.” (Also Read: Mira Rajput Kapoor Shares A Cute Picture Of Daughter, Misha Kapoor Flying A Kite On Makar Sankranti)
He further wrote, “attempts by several for pleasant conversation that depict the times spent with her... expressions and attitudes just before she breathed her last... indications that it was known to her... words spoken never heard before…" He concluded his post by stating Ritu ji as an epitome of an ideal woman and wrote, “an ideal daughter, an ideal sister, an ideal wife, an ideal Mother, an ideal in-law, an ideal Mother-in-Law, and an ideal friend... has left us for good in a distance we cannot cover... for now... !!”

A few months back, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Nikhil Nanda’s kids, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda had spent quality time with their paternal grandmother, Ritu Nanda and aunt, Nitasha Nanda. Navya could be seen sitting beside her grandma on the armchair, and it was everyone’s beautiful smile that had all our heart!
Ritu ji’s funeral took place at the Lodhi Road cremation ground in Delhi. While the Bachchan, Kapoor and Nanda family mourned the huge loss, it was Shweta Bachchan Nanda's daughter, Navya Naveli Nanda who could not control her emotions. Navya, who was standing with her mamu, Abhishek Bachchan broke down as she paid the last rites of her grandmother, Ritu Nanda. It was Abhishek, who was seen consoling his niece, Navya.
