Born to a Malayali Christian mother and Punjabi Hindu father, sibling of model-turned-actress, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora had followed her sister's footsteps and made her debut in Bollywood. While on the professional front, she didn’t dazzle much, but in personal life, she has always ruled the headlines. Be it for her married life with Shakeel Ladak or her friendship with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor, Amrita never fails to grab the limelight. Reportedly, Amrita Arora had known Shakeel Ladak for a long time as he was the husband of her close friend from college, Nisha Rana. Post Shakeel and Nisha’s divorce in 2006, his friendship with Amrita rekindled and by September 2008, the duo was officially in a relationship. Nisha had accused Amrita for stealing her husband and when such reports reached Joyce Arora, she claimed it to be baseless and defended her daughter. In March 2009, Amrita and Shakeel had decided to tie the knot and their mix ceremonies were a sheer delight for their fans.
It’s been 12 years since Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak were pronounced husband and wife, and to mark their wedding anniversary, the couple posted lovely wished for each other on social media. In a throwback interview with the IANS, Amrita Arora had spoken about the moment when she felt Shakeel Ladak is the one for her. She was quoted as saying, "The minute I set my eyes on Shakeel I knew he was the man I wanted to marry. It's like a karmic connection. I just felt it. I had never felt this before. Shakeel is everything that I want my husband to be. And I'm determined to make our marriage work. I'll do whatever it takes." Speaking about the exchange of wedding vows, Amrita had said, "We were supposed to have a church wedding but there were some security hassles so we quickly moved the venue to Olive. But there were no hassles because we had a standby ready."
Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak are proud parents to two lovely boys and in an interview with the Indian Express, when she was asked if baby number 3 is under production, she had said, “Noooo! Honestly, three years back, Shakeel and I went through that phase, when Azaan and Rayaan began to get busy with their school routines and started making friends, got a little busier with attending birthday parties and play dates. But that fleeting moment passed. I am out of the baby zone now.” Speaking of what they enjoy as parents, Amrita had stated, “We love watching the boys interact, reading the menu, figuring out their food preferences when we take them out, which we do very often now as they are older. We travel aplenty and the boys are conditioned to zip around as our idea of a vacation is not to lounge around in the hotel room but to go out and explore. Also, their innocence and curiosity is an eye-opener for us, too. Kids teach you so many things as well.” (Also Read: Karisma Kapoor Spends A 'Lovely Evening' With Her Gang, Kareena, Malaika And Amrita, Saif Joins)
