Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding, which took place in July 2024, was one of the grandest occasions of the year. Amid the pomp, grandeur, and jaw-dropping outfits, it also became evident that the Ambanis are foodies to the core. Yes, India's richest family loves to eat and Anant and Radhika's wedding menu, which featured 2,500 dishes from around the world, perfectly reflected that. However, it seems one street vendor's dish is among the Ambani family's favourite delicacies. So much so, that he was invited to the wedding and has been to Antilia three times.
The Ambani family enjoys many delicacies, from homemade Gujarati dishes to dosa from Mumbai's Mysore Cafe. They are no strangers to street snacks either, indulging in sev puri from Swati Snacks in Mumbai and tamatar chaat from Kashi Chaat Bhandar in Varanasi. However, one Jaipur street vendor's dahi vada might be among their favourites.

Foodpandits, a food vlogger, took to Instagram with a reel featuring a humble vada shop owner. In it, the vlogger was seen asking the vendor, "Panditji, where have I seen you?" The vendor's shocking response revealed that he had impressed even the Ambanis with his delicious dahi vada as he said:
"You would have seen me at Anant Ambani's wedding, and I have been to Antilia thrice."

As the video continued, the vendor started preparing his irresistible dahi vada for Foodpandits. During the same, he showed the vlogger his caterer's pass for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding as proof. He further revealed that he had cooked for Anant in his kitchen.
Speaking about the dish, the vendor gave the vlogger a glimpse of his recipe. First, he kept two crispy dal vadas on a plate and added a dollop of curd to them. Then, he put in his secret masala. Additional toppings to the vadas included chole ki chutney with date and mint chutney. Finally, the dahi vada is served with a dash of red chilli paste.
In the reel, Foodpandits seemed to share the same opinion as the Ambanis, calling the dahi vada 'a burst of flavours.' For the curious, the shop named Pandit Ji Vade Wale can be found in Ashok Nagar, Jaipur. Dahi vada is already a popular street food in Jaipur. However, there is something about Panditji's special serving that even the locals can't get enough of, and it is a must-try for those visiting Jaipur too.
Will you be trying this iconic dahi vada, which is an Ambani favourite, the next time you are in Jaipur?
