Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding has been the talk of the town for a long time now. After two grand pre-wedding ceremonies and a week-long pre-wedding rituals, Anant and Radhika finally hopped onto their forever journey. Throughout the pre-wedding and wedding soirees, the Ambanis have shown their top-notch fashion games, and their jewellery collection left us spellbound. From precious gemstones to rare jewel pieces, everything was shining bright like a diamond, that made us stop and stare.
The way the Ambanis keep shelling out pure goals with the 'sharing is caring' motto is all things love. We recently stumbled upon one such instance, when the groom, Anant Ambani wore his mom, Nita Ambani's rare piece of jewellery for his wedding. Anant opted for a bazuband, which, in actuality, was the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan's kalgi. The kalgi is made of antique spinel, ruby, and diamond and reportedly has a price tag of Rs. 200 crore.

It was in May 2024 when Nita Ambani attended the Miss World pageant, which was held in Mumbai. During the same event, Nita was awarded the 'Beauty with Purpose Humanitarian Award' for her philanthropic work. For the day, the gorgeousness was dolled up in a black-hued Banarasi saree, with designs made in lustrous gold and zari atop it. She teamed her saree with a matching blouse and opted for soft touch of makeup. Open hair and a black bindi added stars to her look. Nita donned a pair of classy earrings and a kada to finalise her look. Moreover, it was the kalgi, which she used as a bazuband, that amped up her entire look.
Kalgi is a headpiece generally attached to the turban to amp up the entire look and make it regal. This stunning turban accessory has a history that dates back to the Mughal Empire. The kalgi generally symbolises honour, dignity, and royal aura. Talking about the kalgi that Anant wore, as per Topophilia, it is 13.7 cm in height and 19.8 wide, made of precious gemstones like ruby, spinel, and diamonds.

The design atop it is known as the Pachhikakaam technique, which was adopted by the Indian jewellers following the European claw setting style, which is a process, wherein metal claws are prepared to grasp over the diamonds firmly. As per several reports, this pricey head ornament, which originated in the Mughal Empire, was auctioned at the Christie's Maharajas in 2019. It's really unique the way Nita Ambani's bazuband became 'something borrowed' for Anant on his big day.
